Milk & Honey Ranch — Restaurant in Round Top

Thank you Milk and Honey Ranch for your hospitality! We were without power due to the storm and were taken back by all the love that went into making this ranch a place of respite. The drive to the ranch began to melt away my worries and burdens of the storm and all it brought with it. The drive from Montgomery was stunning. Take the back roads and see green meadows of grass and trees as far as you can see. We rented the XL Casita on the lake, and it was perfect. The sectional couch offers a sweet place to snuggle with my little and watch her shows on the large screen TV. The living room made a great space for the baby to crawl around. Spacious kitchen with a full-size fridge, stove, microwave, sink and dishwasher. The dining table with 6 chairs made a great space for meals with the family. No washer or dryer in the casitas. I love to porch sit and this porch has 4 chairs and a porch swing overlooking the lake. The sunsets here. WOW! You can rent paddleboards for $15 an hour, kayaks and canoes are available by the hour. Bring your family here or even a couple’s getaway would be great. If I were on a getaway with my husband, I would stay at The Cottage or The Treehouse. The cottage is tucked away more than most and The Treehouse is all by itself in the woods with a private hot tub. I don’t think The Treehouse has a kitchen. The cabin is also secluded. The Lodge is a great space with 3 bedrooms. It sits above a large garage, so the ability to climb stairs is needed. The resort style pool is a great place to hang out on warm days. They have a gym onsite and bike trails (e bikes option). The animals, oh they animals. Rent a golf cart when you book your room and cruise around the 50+ acres visiting the friendliest neighbors. The goats, donkeys, goats, cows, giant pigs, peacocks, turkeys, chickens, ponies were some of our favorite neighbors. Hands down the ranch dogs were the best welcoming committee. The sweet Great Pyrenees pups roam freely all over the property and love porch visits. One even hitched a ride on our golf cart. They are so sweet and gentle. Water, sodas, sparkling water, Gatorade and snacks are available at no additional cost in the snack room. The snack room is next to the pool which makes it easy to access. The food here! They offer breakfast and dinner; lunch is not available. You are 14 minutes from Brenham so either bring groceries or go to town for lunch. This is a farm to table family style experience so expect to pay for that fresh, yummy goodness. We had ribeye, baked potato and green beans. WHOA! What a great meal. Many of the guests here brought their own groceries and grilled in the outdoor kitchens. We had breakfast delivered to our casita. Fresh baked sourdough bread, eggs, bacon and a giant bowl of fruit…oh and I ordered a cold latte. YUM and what a treat! A small onsite restaurant looks to be near completion in the next couple of months. The sunsets here are beautiful. My favorite spot was on the deck of the lake as the sunset and God showed off with the cotton candy colored sky over the beautiful landscape of this ranch. This place was a sweet retreat for my weary mind and heart after the storm. God often uses the wilderness to speak to me. I needed to just sit with Him under the big open sky. This would be a wonderful place to host a wedding. They do rent the entire ranch for weddings and retreats. We will be back for sure, but maybe early fall or late spring to enjoy the outdoors a little more. I booked in such a hurry I didn’t have time to read all the things. Update to previous review: After my review, the owner, Brent, reached out to me. He was very apologetic and took accountability for what happened. It was great to see the owner display this behavior. He asked me to give the ranch another chance and that I would have a better experience the second time around. I was reluctant, but I decided to give the ranch a second chance. When arriving I was warmly welcomed and shown to my lodging unit. The cow cuddles experience was so fun. My fiancé and I had a blast getting pulled around on the jet ski! The dinner was very good, especially the cheesecake! All the animals were great to interact with and feed. The whole staff was very friendly. I am grateful to Brent, Kamekah, Kaylee, and the ladies who hosted the mini cow cuddles session for making our experience so great this time around! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs a tranquil getaway! Previous review (July 2025): I was lucky enough to win an instagram giveaway for a 2 night stay for 4 people including a mini cow cuddle session. I was so excited for my stay and scheduling the stay itself and add-ons was a breeze. The phone calls and email communications were very pleasant and the staff was so helpful! Upon arriving on the ranch, check in was easy and the staff member in flow cafe answered all the questions I had. The biggest issue we encountered was a water outage in our lodging unit. We came back from enjoying the pool and pond after sunset. When we went to turn on the shower we realized there was no water coming out of the shower head. There was no water coming out of the kitchen sink, bathroom sink and the toilet could not be flushed. We reported the issue around 9pm on Saturday when we noticed the issue. We reached a voicemail so we had to leave a message. I also sent a DM to Milk and Honey instagram at 11:19PM. We had to go without water from 9pm to about 9am so we were not able to shower, use the toilet or either of the sinks in the unit. I received a DM from Milk and Honey instagram at 6:28am stating that they were asleep and did not see the call but that the issue would be worked on. We received a text message around 7am as a response to the voicemail apologizing for the issue and said it would be worked on and that we would need to use a restroom outside near the gym. I was only happy with the mini cow cuddles session and animal interactions as they were calm, kind and very friendly. The animals were the best part of our trip, and we were very happy to have had the experience. Myself and my fellow guests did not receive the friendly and helpful attitude that other reviews have stated from majority of the staff members we interacted with. I do not know if there was something happening behind the scenes, if something else happened with other guests before our interactions with various staff members or if this treatment has to do with winning a free giveaway as opposed to paying and booking the stay, but I was taken aback by the irritation and annoyance we were met with when communicating our concerns or needs. I do not know if there is an after hours staff member that can take care of issues after the office hours of 8:30am-6pm, but it was a big inconvenience to have an issue after those times and not being able to receive any help. There was a lot of inconsistency with how a staff member would react when we spoke to any of them, so we tried not speak to anyone unless we really needed to. I am disappointed that what I thought would be a pleasant and amazing experience based off Instagram and the shining reviews on Google was not accurate in my experience. I do hope in the future the staff is more approachable and friendly as well as an after-hours staff is available for concerns for future guests to hopefully have a better...

We had the most memorable time this week of spring break with our 4 children ages 7, 6, 3, and 17 months and my mother (grandma). We will definitely be back! We are already looking at the calendar to see when we can come back next. We stayed at The Lodge which has a full kitchen three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. It was the perfect size for my family. The owners and their family members were around this week. And every interaction with them was the most pleasant. I have so many wonderful things to say about our time that this review would go on forever. I mostly wanted to leave this review so that there was a current newly updated review on Google. Some previous reviews stated that when you rent a golf cart, they are kind of a free for all at whatever location you are at. I am unaware if that is the truth in the past. But that is no longer something that happens. We rented our golf cart for our entire stay for $45. We had a name tag posted on our specific golf cart and it was always available to us Wherever we drove it to and parked it. It was not shared with any other family. We had a six seater, which was perfect for our family of seven. One of the seven of us was our 17 month old baby. The first day we arrived we did drive into round top for dinner and had dinner at one of Roundtop’s favorites, Lulu‘s which I highly recommend since it is only a 12 to 15 minut drive, especially on Sundays. Because the restaurant at milk and honey is not open on Sundays. I loved that about milk and honey that they had a day for their staff and family to be off on Sundays. It was one of the many reasons why I really appreciated this family establishment. We did pre-order our lunch and dinner of our first true full day. We had the margarita cheese pizza and Pepperoni pizza and the spring salad mix. It was very clear that they were the freshest ingredients and one of the best pizzas we’ve ever had. For dinner, we had the steak, tomato, basil, soup, spring mix, salad, green beans, and pasta bowl and to finish it off We had the homemade ice cream. Both meals were phenomenal. We ended up having dinner later in the week again ordering the same pizzas and salad mix which were again top-notch. Some of the other highlights of our trip were staying in the lodge and waking up above the animal garage. Seeing the rising sun over the horizon with the Longhorns and the sheep and goats out our window already eating their morning breakfast in the fields was so beautiful. My seven-year-old son must’ve caught 50 fish during our four night five day stay. From huge catfish to sunfish and bluegill to smallmouth bass, he had the time of his life all week long from the banks and the docks around the lake. Making s’mores around multiple fire pits, dips in the hot tub, football on the beach, Sandcastle making, Hikes on the adventure dome trails, Night walks in the dark with flashlights to visit the animals, buying feed bags and having all the access to feeding animals daily were all highlights...
