The Backporch — Restaurant in Roundup

I had heard great things about the Backporch. I had high hopes. We came in on 5th July. The place was severely understaffed both in the kitchen and in the serving staff. It took about 15 minutes and me going up to the counter to inquire before anyone even came to our table. They took our drink order but then another 10+ minutes passed and no drinks came. We saw lots of tables not being served. People sitting around looking stuck and bored…no menus…no drinks…no food. I also noticed the place was kind of getting dirty…the area at the door hadn’t been swept in awhile. The ‘stage’ area was caked with dirt. When I spoke to the staff watching dishes and asked if we were meant to order at the tables or the counters she looked totally confused. I know the restaurant is under new management so maybe that’s what has caused the decrease in cleanliness and customer service . I also thought the menu would be a lot more exciting than it was but it seems it was kind of bare bones and a bit overpriced. We were just passing through and couldn’t afford to wait for 2 hours to hopefully get an order in and get served so we just left and went down the street to the Grand Bar—the manager came out, cleared a table for us and sat us immediately and we were able to get our meal right away. I’m so sad to say but the Backporch was real disappointment. They need to hire more people and train them better, clean up the place, get a more interesting menu in place and well, defend...

We found this place on a road trip and stopped to eat here on the way and the next day on the way back home. The space is large, airy, squeaky clean. The folks working here are pleasant, friendly, and helpful. I have had the Jalapeño Brat, Cole slaw, Mac and Cheese, and the Pit Beef. Each dish was great. Another reviewer complained that the meat lacked "smoke" in the flavor. I disagree, there was enough smoke in the flavor and it did not overpower the delicious sauces that I chose from. My better half had the Pulled Pork and Turkey and agrees that this is great BBQ. I would gladly take the beautiful drive for 100 miles each way to come to Roundup and shop and have a delicious meal here. I highly...

Updating my reviews as of 04 /03/24 This place has new owners man the place has been changed a bit and a lot reflects the things I had previously put in my last review 10 months ago. With a kids menu wait staff etc . As an employee and customer. I understood the dynamics the town was looking for another family oriented place to dine other than the grand . This place has grown a lot love the food . They have a all new kids menu fresh new exciting menu selections. The feel is just completely different . I came in met the owners just wow. I'm in the Top 5 % of all Google reviewers for a reason for reviews . I was just blown away it's the way Imagined it could be . First impression is everything ...
