Get in, get your food, get out.
Maybe just order takeout?
Being a regular at Rowdy's for the last few months since moving to Fairbury has been a decent experience. The food, originally, was not the best or up to my tastes; however, when we found out they had new cooks/waitresses and or staff our friends suggested we start going out more often. Our first experience was very wonderful with how the dining experience was concerned, food was delicious and waitresses were great. After finishing the meal the owner, Rod, came and asked to if our group could leave, because we were there too long and others needed to utilize the dining room, if we weren't going to order.
Prompt. Awesome.
Return after return the food continues to remain consistently delicious and the waitresses well trained.
Then 9/10/2021 we decided to go to Rowdy's for a meal to celebrate a friend's birthday. The Mountain Oysters were amazing, the mozzerella sticks were beautiful and delicious, after having our order taken it had been almost 40-50 minutes when the owner, Rod, came over and asked if we wanted refills, or, were getting ready to leave. We were, essentially asked if we were leaving before our dinner was even at the table.
After being informed we hadn't received our food--the owner left us to our table. Refills were sparse; and we were hardly checked on from our waitress. A little less than half an hour later our food started to come out (almost an hour and twenty minutes after we ordered) when Rod asked what the problem had been (since I was a bit sour). Rod, you know what the problem is.
Putting a smile on and saying "I didn't ask you to leave, I asked if you wer--" no. Optics matter, and you are good at optics. No amount of rubbing a guest's shoulder and telling them "You know I'm not like this, right?" Will make it better. Do better.
I do not like to cause a scene in a restaurant; and your waitresses and cooks do a great job. But you need to work on your customer service skills. Instead of refilling drinks and asking people to leave--leave that to your waitresses.
Personally, we all should have gotten up when you asked if we were getting ready to leave because it was taking so long to get the food; however, we decided to give you another shot. You need to be less condescending when trying to apologize and just say "I'm sorry."
You are an owner. You are in the service...
Read moreWe came here because of the mostly good reviews..... well if you want a steak DON'T GO HERE. I ordered the filet and ordered it medium to medium well....... I just wanted a nice light pink center....... I got a hockey puck..... the owner/ cook REFUSED to get me new one. A waiter wanted to make it right and at least get me a sandwich at no charge. Well, thank you, but by this time I've lost my appetite.... will never come here EVER, EVER again. Have the easy fried food.... don't...
Read moreFood was fantastic and you won't go home hungry. Prime Rib was great. Elephant Ear chicken friend steak lives up to its name and was tender to eat with a fork. The BBQ twist fries are fantastic to dip in the gravy. From out of town and beleive me I'm picky but I'd absolutely come back. Only adjustment is maybe a tad more liquid to the broccoli cheese soup but it also lived up to its name of broccoli and cheese so I can't to too...
