Exceptional Dining Experience, My recent visit was nothing short of exceptional. This charming establishment offers a delightful combination of delicious food, friendly service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It truly stands out as a top dining destination in the area.
Delicious and Innovative Cuisine: The menu is a wonderful blend of classic favorites and innovative dishes. I started with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, which were perfectly cooked and seasoned, offering a delightful balance of flavors. For my main course, I opted for the Gard Burger, which was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The fresh, locally-sourced ingredients really shone through in every bite. The hand-cut fries that accompanied the burger were crispy and golden, providing the perfect complement to the meal. The menu also features a variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options, ensuring that there is something for everyone.
Friendly and Attentive Service: The service is outstanding. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was seamless. The staff’s enthusiasm and commitment to customer satisfaction were evident throughout our visit, making us feel truly valued as guests.
Inviting Atmosphere: The atmosphere is both cozy and stylish, making it a great place for any occasion. The interior decor is charming, with rustic touches and comfortable seating that create a welcoming and relaxed environment. The outdoor patio area is beautifully designed and provides a lovely setting for enjoying a meal on a nice day. Whether you’re dining with family, friends, or on a romantic date, the ambiance is perfect for a memorable dining experience.
Great Selection of Beverages: House boasts an impressive selection of beverages, including local craft beers, wines, and creative cocktails. I enjoyed a glass of locally-produced wine that paired wonderfully with my meal. The bar staff are skilled and knowledgeable, ensuring that every drink is crafted to perfection. The diverse drink menu complements the food offerings and enhances the overall dining experience.
Commitment to Local and Sustainable Practices: One of the standout features of Gard Public House is its commitment to supporting local farmers and producers. The emphasis on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients not only ensures high-quality food but also supports the local community. The restaurant’s dedication to sustainability and ethical practices is commendable and adds to its appeal.
Reasonable Prices: Despite the high quality of the food and service, the prices are very reasonable. The generous portion sizes and the exceptional dining experience offer excellent value for money. It’s clear that the restaurant strives to provide an upscale yet affordable dining option for the community.

Read moreMy husband and Daughter surprised me by taking me to Gard house for the first time on Mothers day! I couldn't believe I would finally get to experience everything I have heard about and read online! However, our experience was subpar. We were not greeted when we entered the restaurant. We weren't sure what to do and after several minutes of awkwardly waiting, I went to the bar to ask if we were supposed to wait to be seated or seat ourselves. The hostess was nice and said they were really busy and that she would seat us soon. They must have had a lot of call-in orders and been short staffed, because the restaurant was about half full. A few minutes later the hostess asked 'how many' and grabbed the menus and walked away. We weren't sure if we were supposed to follow her. So, we waited some more until she came back and told us we were supposed to follow. I apologized for not doing so and we were seated. We were having a hard time deciding what to order, so we asked the server what the most popular dishes are and he let out an irritated sigh and said, 'I don't know because usually I only work nights, I'm just helping out today because we are busy' I replied, 'ok, no problem. Then we are going to need a few more minutes to decide.' I was met with an eye roll as the server turned on his heel and walked away. One of the items we ordered was the hamburger for my 8 year old daughter. I asked if we could get ketchup on the burger. The server told me, 'we can't put ketchup ON the burger, but I guess we can put it on the side.' Okay, kind of weird, but not a big deal. The next time we saw our server, was when he was yelling 'goodbye' to the other employees as he walked past our table to go home. We weren't acknowledged or told that someone else would be taking over as our server. We waited a reasonable amount of time for our food and it came out hot, and looking and smelling and tasting delicious! However, we waited a long time to receive napkins, silverware and condiments. My husband was about to find someone when another server came over to our table to ask if we needed anything else. We asked for more ketchup and the new server brought a whole bottle of ketchup. We thought that was funny because the previous server made it seem like asking for ketchup was offensive. Maybe it is when you have a 3 star Michelin chef cooking for you, but I also have an 8 year old. The food was delicious! The star of the meal was the chocolate lava cake! It was delectable! I will be dreaming about that cake for the rest of my life! After we ate, we waited and waited for our bill. Again, we weren't sure what the protocol was, so my husband got up and went to the front to pay. The server apologized and took our money. We would like to give Gard house another try. In the future, we will make a reservation and go on a regular day (not a holiday) in hopes of a much...
Read moreMy friend and I visited for lunch. She ordered a hamburger cooked medium and I ordered the chicken sandwich. We waited about 40 minutes for the food to come out, at which point we noticed quickly that the buns on both sandwiches were burned to a crisp. Next, when we picked our cold fries up, it didn't take much to notice how limp and soggy they were. I went up to the counter to ask for fry sauce but the gal running the register chose to completely ignore me. I finally was able to flag the cook down when she happened to pass by. When I asked for fry sauce, I was handed a little container of mayo and a little container of ketchup to mix up myself. I don't work here but OK. We slogged through about half our food before giving up. The food did not taste good. Our plates looked like a massacre with dead burned bun edges, limp fries and weird tasting chicken pieces discarded all over the place. To be fair, my friend has been to this restaurant a couple of times in the evenings and says it's amazing so maybe just save yourself the trouble and pass it by during the lunch hour. Our waiter seemed like a nice enough guy but we couldn't hear him when he spoke to us. We're not that old so I'm pretty sure it was due to his whispering the specials to us. We had a hell of a time figuring out the empanadas had BEANS instead of BEETS in them. Perhaps it would be a good idea to train your wait staff to talk in above normal voices? I might go back in the evenings when there is an actual chef (and maybe some well-trained waiters/waitresses) but there's no way I'd ever go back during lunch. I should mention this is not a burger joint or a McDonald's type restaurant... it's a fairly fancy place (or trying to be anyway) so a little more attention to detail, training and service would probably work in...
