The service needs improvement. There was only 3 couples at the tables, us included. We thought we were going to get an extraordinary treatment since it was practically empty but there was only one waitress. The food took forever to come, there was no condiments at the table (salt, pepper, hot sauce, dressing, nothing at all) when we asked the waitress she said "it comes with it". Seriously! If we asking is because obviously we need it. Then I ordered the porkchop and I had plastic utensils, so when I asked for metal utensils she brought me a knife. It wasn't until she came back to the table and saw me struggling with the fork that she offered to bring me one. And when she brought it she came with the fork swinging it across the restaurant without wrapping it on a tissue or anything. It was the worst experience in service. The owner was there but he didn't care to greet us or ask how was our meal. But I am giving a star because the food was good. So the chef, gets a star. The bartender needs to work on his...
Read moreLocally owned Pal Karamba is a small restaurant in the town of Sabana Grande. As soon as I got there, I ordered the best passion fruit mojito I've had in my life. We were a party of 9 and got there at 650pm and the place was packed. They had live music and people were singing and enjoying the show. We were seated outside but could not hear him. We were seated at 845pm and had a long wait. Our food came staggered after 920pm. There were 2 servers that were a bit overwhelmed with the work and had to be called several times to bring drinks, cups, napkins, and utensils, still they were still very polite and caring. Definitely should hire more staff for the weekend. I got the classic Mofongo with Mero, and it was delicious, same for churrasco and all the platters we got in or party. Lots of food, and pretty tasty. I recommend if you are trying it, go early to get a good table and skip the wait. Thank you,...
Read moreThis restaurant has really gone downhill. The owner doesn’t seem responsible or experienced enough to run the place. They removed the spider plantains — the crispy, fried ones that were always a highlight — which was disappointing right from the start.
We came in with a party of 11 and only had one waitress. She didn’t check on us after dropping off the food, and not everything we ordered even came out. When I went looking for her, she was in the kitchen eating ice cream and laughing with the cooks.
There was another woman, dressed inappropriately, sitting at a table with the owner. They were giggling and flirting with each other while the restaurant was being ignored. She didn’t lift a finger to help, and neither of them seemed to care about the mess going on around them.
The mofongo portions have gotten noticeably smaller, and the bathrooms were filthy. If the owner doesn’t start taking the business seriously and stop treating the place like a hangout, it’s only a matter of time before this place fails.
