Want to be transported back in time? You absolutely need to stop at Vic's ice cream shop in East Sacramento. There is a small adjacent parking lot and plenty of street parking around. Expect somewhat long lines on warm weekends. You can also grab a seat at the counter or a booth. There is limited seating. They have a small menu of hot food items, but what they're known for are their desserts and ice cream! I got a small sunday of strawberry cheesecake ice cream with hot caramel and fresh pineapple with a cherry and whipped cream. Delicious! I’ll be the first to admit that my review is somewhat subjective, but don’t hold that against me or this review. I’ve been visiting Vic’s since I was 5 years old and 62 years later, although I have moved, I never miss a chance to visit when I’m in town. Hotdog or cheese dog sandwich? Yes, please. The muddy mocha and the mocha almond fudge is my go to, especially the pie! My dear auntie and grandma went absolutely giddy when spumoni was available. And do yourself a favor and try a lime ricky. Decent ice cream place since the 1940's, but nothing too exceptional. They have standard flavors with some niche ones, like Mocha and "Fresh Strawberry". I was irritated that I ordered a rocky road but barely received any marshmallows and nuts, so that was unfortunate. But the associate helping me was friendly and patient, making up for the missing flavor. The portions they give are fairly large, so you get your money's worth. The atmosphere is classic and roomy, and they have options for meals if you're interested.
