On my initial visit, were it not for my semi-annual review commitment, it might have marked my last visit. To commence, the hostess exhibited a discourteous demeanor. Upon entering and requesting to join my party, she departed without offering the customary guidance or courtesies. I found myself momentarily perplexed by the situation. Our party, consisting of three individuals, was accommodated in the primary dining area, where live music resonated at a deafening volume, making conversation challenging. The room's vaulted ceiling and glass windows compounded the acoustic issue, creating a disruptive echo effect.
Furthermore, it was disconcerting to witness an individual engaged in filming activities within the dining space, exhibiting intrusive behavior by leaning on tables and encroaching upon patrons' personal space while they dined. The establishment should also consider engaging an electrician to address the flickering light issue, which was notably distracting.
The bartender's inability to craft a proper dirty martini, a cocktail comprising just three ingredients, was a disappointment. My observation led me to question the proficiency of the kitchen staff, as my order for a dry house salad took an excessive 45 minutes to materialize, accompanied by a martini overly laden with olive juice. The salad itself left much to be desired, featuring wilted arugula and bruised cucumber.
To their credit, the wait staff exhibited exceptional professionalism and dedication, effectively compensating for other shortcomings. Our waitress, in particular, was commendable and tirelessly diligent in her duties. It is my hope that she is remunerated fairly, possibly on an hourly basis, given her exemplary service.
Nonetheless, the kitchen requires more proficient supervision. It was disconcerting that there were no vegan options available for one of our party members, who could not even order fries due to cross-contamination concerns. The incident of a raw, cold-center burger, ordered medium-rare, further underscores the need for improved kitchen operations. While the establishment promptly removed the item from the bill, it raised concerns regarding food safety.
I harbor no ill will towards our waitress, as the excessively loud live music impeded her ability to effectively communicate. In conclusion, my overall impression of the establishment is far from favorable. It appears to cater to an older demographic seeking to relive their youth, with food quality falling short of expectations. A reevaluation and, potentially, retraining of the bartender and line cooks would greatly benefit the establishment. In the absence of my commitment to a semi-annual update, I would not be inclined to return. Please accept my...
Read moreAfter reading other's reviews, it's so funny how people can go to the same place and walk away with a totally different perception. We give the hostess, servers, waitstaff, etc. an A+. They really made an effort to make my husband and I feel like welcomed guests when I took my husband out for Father's Day. However, we weren't impressed with the food, and that was dissapointing for our first time visiting. I ordered the Strawberry Arugala salad special with a side of bread. The bread came out partially charcoal burnt, but I thought maybe they warmed it on the grill and that's where the charcoal look came from....my husband gave me props for trying to give the cook the benefit of the doubt and not complaining to the waitress that my bread was burnt. The Strawberry salad, however, I could not excuse. It was $12 for a little pile of fresh strawberries, arugala, goat cheese, sliced almonds and what seemed like way too much berry?-vinegar dressing that was very vinegar-tasting. I asked for no red onions, but had to send it back because the red onions decided to make an appearance anyway. :( I only ate not-even half of my little pile o' salad because my lips were starting to permanently "purse" from the dressing. But notice I said the ingrediants were "fresh", which was great. It was just the rest, not so much. My husband ordered a burger with chips, which he said was satisfactory and a bottle of budweiser which he gave an A+. :) So, if the owners are reading this and would like a little constructive feedback from some paying customers, here's mine: Whatever you're doing with your staff, keep doing it, it's working! HOWEVER, if you're going to have a relatively upscale restaurant as far out as Stottsville is from any major attractions be successful, the food has got to be FANTASTIC and/or the prices reasonable to make people want to drive there or it's going to go the way it has a few times before.....closed for good, with a sign on the door saying "went to Harry's". Honestly, I just wish it was a little less upscale with good home cooked food, reasonable prices and good service. Hold the hoity and the toity. Hopefully, the owners won't read this and tell us to "go up the road to Harry's" like I read in someone else's review, but instead, keeps an open mind when listening to their customers feedback (who pay the owner's bills every time they walk through the door), tweeks their operations as needed/suggested a bit, and reaps the rewards of having a successful business for many, many years by doing so. Or not, and that's ok, too. We're rooting...
Read moreMy wife and I were hoping for a great weekend visiting our friends who live in the area but we made the horrible mistake of staying at this hotel, eating at this restaurant, and having drinks at this bar.
The staff, especially the bar staff was incredibly rude and disrespectful to me, my wife, and my friend.
First, we were promised a 10% discount on all restaurant and bar bills because we were guests at the hotel, but when our bills came the discount was not honored despite spending close to $400.
We asked for a crib upon checking in and were made to feel like it was an absolutely ridiculous request. Despite staff being there, not one person offered to help us with our bags as my wife and I made multiple trips up the stairs to the third floor with our luggage and child.
When we asked to be seated outside on the patio for dinner, the waiter rudely told my wife… “if you want to go sit in the rain go ahead…. be by guest”.
It was not raining, just cloudy and within 20 minutes the sun was shining. He just did not want to set us up out there at the time.
At one point, I borrowed a phone charger block from the bartender because we accidentally forgot one when packing. When i returned it, a small piece inside was bent. I did not purposely break his charger block and I am honestly unsure how it happened. The bartender got in my face pointing at the phone charger block and repeatedly yelled “how did this get like this???” He did not stop accusing me of breaking his charger block until my friend paid him 20$
At the end of the evening my friend and I were quietly talking on the hotels patio. The bartender and three other staff members came out yelling at us that we were not allowed to be there and that my friend was not welcome…. to the point I felt like he was going to assault us. The manager needed to hold the bartender back and remove him before a physical altercation took place.
We tried to speak with a manager this morning about our terrible experiences before we checked out but were told there was no one to talk to. After checking out, we called the hotel twice today and have been twice told there is no manager to speak with.
I have never in my life been made to feel more unwelcome and disrespected by the staff at any establishment of any kind.
The staff of this hotel ruined what my wife and I had hoped was going to be a great weekend...
