A wonderful gem of the St. John Valley. Stopped by here upon the recommendation of the lady at the Bangor welcome center on I-95 after having plans to go elsewhere. Let me just say I am quite glad I listened to her!
Having summited Katahdin via Cathedral Trail and descending via Knife's Edge earlier in the day, I was absolutely starved coming in. I was seated right away. A very nice young lady waited on me and made good conversation with me (and spoke a bit of French to me to mess with me after sharing how I was corrected when I mispronounced "Saint Agatha"...).
Upon her recommendation, I ordered a Delmonico steak extra rare, and it was delicious! Ordered some poutine made from fresh Aroostook taters (a must for any visit to Acadia) and that was likewise amazing. Topped it off with a delicious oven-baked cookie for dessert. By the time my belly was ready to burst, it was over a half hour past closing time, but nobody rushed me out.
All in all, I was very impressed with the quality of the food, and am still amazed at the friendliness of the Acadian people here and across the valley. Not to mention there were some amazing views of the area around us!
This place is perhaps the finest establishment in THE County (no disrespect to Governor's in Presque Isle or Dolly's, which are also amazing). I will most certainly return here on my next visit to the St. John Valley. This place has my highest...
Read moreOur server was Sheila. We got to sit over where we could see Long Lake from our table. Our orders were taken right away and Sheila saw to it we got our food in a timely manner. When my prime rib came, I cut into it and saw it was well done, not medium rare. No problem for our server or the chef! I very quickly got another prime rib, cooked perfectly! Sheila discounted my bill, which was sweet. (I mean people make mistakes. I may not have spoken up loud enough.) What I also liked was the food came out by course which made it relaxing to enjoy each item without rushing. My brother and I shared cheesecake with caramel for the final course. The price for our fine dining (steamed clam appetizer, tossed salads, coffee, lemonade, whole fried clams, prime rib, and the cheesecake) was quite reasonable. The meal was definitely worth the $70 (steamers were market price and we indulged) and Sheila was so attentive! Lakeview, your staff...
Read moreWe were a party of four, and requested a table outside. The hostess informed us those tables were for takeout only, they do not have anyone to wait on those tables. So, we requested a window table. She told us we could not sit at the window table as it was reserved for groups of six only. She told us we could sit in a booth. We were seated in the back corner booth, where it was dark and under a television. The whole time we were there, that table by the window remained empty. Personally, I will never go back to Lakeview nor recommend it, as the hostess acts like a dictator, on television the "Soup Nazi" was funny on Seinfield, in life, it was not enjoyable. Fortunately, our waitress, Rebecca was wonderful and was the only saving grace that day. So, go with a party of six and ask for Rebecca, food is homestyle nothing...
