Currently on a road trip and wanted to stop somewhere different than we usually would so Lisa's Roadside Diner it was.

The first thing we noticed was that despite the parking lot being full, the diner offered plenty of seating options. A quick visit to the restrooms when we got inside proved that it was clean environment.

Service was very quick though conversation was limited ( it was decently steady in business when we arrive ). Our server (unable to catch the name) was very attentive and made sure everything was okay and that we had plenty of time to consider options. Food arrival time was extremely fast and did not put us off of our travel clock. I would've liked to see a child size menu for our kiddo, but the guests seemed more like workers on their lunch and therefore the menu definitely suited them.

I ordered a hot beef sandwich, my husband had the hot tenderloin, and my son had a chicken tender basket. Our food was hot and portions were very good for the pricing. The gravy was thick and delicious for my hot beef.

Overall would like to go again and try something else. I definitely had my eye on the...

Ok, no atmosphere. It's clean and inviting, a little noisy during the lunch hour, someone else said "probably not a date place." But for a couple married for a few years it was great😁

Frankly, Kathy and I went for the food, not the ambiance. And food we got! Going back for the catfish soon I think. Kathy got Broasted chicken and it was great. I got a hot pork tenderloin sandwich with some of the best white gravy I've had outside of Kathy's kitchen.

We took home enough for another meal each, but still had to top off lunch with German chocolate cake and coconut cream pie. Yummy! You'll probably not be able to stretch it to the extra to-go box but we do that often. Our tummies don't hold as much as they once did.

Finding it was easy in the industrial part of St. Jo, near the stockyards. We used Google maps and it worked fine. Definitely good enough for...

We were traveling through the area decided to stop for lunch at Lisa's because of all of the 5 star reviews!! We were not disappointed I got boasted chicken it was the best fried chicken I have had in several years. The breading was nice and crispy the meat was cooked perfectly very juicy and tender chicken was seasoned perfect!! Had real mashed potatoes cream gravy was exelent green beans were good. The service was very friendly and quick!! The restaurant location is a little hard to get to in the industrial district the building is not fancy it is kinda kinda dated! We will definitely stop next time we drive through...

Definitely a locals place, gets crowded shortly after they open. 7AM -2PM except on Fridays, open till 7PM. I had the special of the day. Small biscuits and gravy with two eggs and sausage patty or bacon. Food was excellent. The gravy was flavorful and not heavy as some are. Eggs for me were scrambled perfectly. Coffee was good, slightly on the weak side but better than overly strong. Chicken Fried Steak must be good as I heard several people ordering it. Deserts, including Chocolate cake looked good but I didn’t have any. Will definitely be back to eat again.

I had tried to get to this place once before and was deterred by a train. We made it this time and glad we did. First off, it's much bigger than it looks, which is good because it was packed for Lunch. Lots of regulars. Friendly and attentive staff. The food was fresh, hot, and fast. The price was quite nice as well. I look forward to a return visit!
