I’ve been a fan of this place since it was Stan and Lou’s but no longer. Our meal started with the waitresssquating beside our table and laying the underside of both arms across our table to take our drink order. My wife ordered the spinach artichoke dip and I ordered the cod filet with coleslaw. Her artichoke dip came with yellow round corn chips that were very stale. Corn chips with artichoke dip is off putting to begin with when normally it’s served with flour chips or a pita bread or anything flour, not corn. She asked for a change and was brought some deep fried but unseasoned pieces of flour tortilla. My cod fillet was not a fillet at all. It was a frozen triangle shaped and coated pressed patty of fish. Something you would buy in a bag at Walmart for fish stick night. I was going to complain about this to the waitress but she justel ayed the bill down for me to sign without asking how things were. Last time I got the cod fillet and it was ok. Paying $10.99 for a couple of fish sticks is not good. Our group would rather not pay high prices for cheap food anymore. Especially when expecting a food item to be as described....
Read moreMy truck broke down and the service mechanic directed me to Pappy's while I waited for a tow. What a hidden gem! This place is small but inviting. The staff is friendly and happy to see you. The cooks are right by the front door as you enter and enough it was lunch rush, they will say hi as well. I was seated at the bar and immediately asked for my drink order. I was given a menu but asked the bartender what he recommended. He did not disappoint. The feast of a burger that was quickly cooked and served to me was fantastic. This is why burgers were invented. I had a giant thick burger with melted cheese with a cooked sausage on top and smeared with sauerkraut and a side of crinkle fries. Whew. I needed a nap after that. The burger was juicy and piping hot. If you are visiting St. Joe, Pappy's is a must stop. Break the restaurant chain cycle and give your taste buds a treat. Thank you Pappy's for making my Friday the...
Read moreI have been to pappy’s a handful of times and have always had a great experience. However this particular night the manager/ owner not sure what she was but her whole attitude towards her employees was absolutely awful. She berated them in front of customers, yelled at them and said some embarrassing things about their appearance. Then she proceeded to insert herself into my husband and I ‘s conversation. She was very rude and extremely unprofessional. She was gossiping right in front of us about employees to other employees.. who does that. Anyway, food is decent, atmosphere is ok if the manager is not there, but the morale or lack of morale can be felt… I personally will never go back.. the whole experience with her that night was...
