Express China — Restaurant in Salem

Decent buffet, sushi is a little on the low end here. Food is only good at peak hours, other times of the day it gets old and cold pretty quick. The ice cream is one of those scoop it yourself- from the bucket- with the ice cream scoop sitting in a pale of water- with a sticky handle that hundreds of kids have touched kinda thing. The service is below average. They aren't very attentive for refills or conversation of any sort. Ordered a bubble tea once, kept asking about it when the waitress would walk by, and it took 20 minutes for another woman to come out and tell me they were out of the flavor I ordered. We were almost done with dinner by then. Place is a little dirty, floor is usually covered in crumbs and whole chunks of food. It seems to be a popular place for some reason....

Poor service waited 40 minutes for my take out order. Drove 20 miles home to find out my order was wrong. 1)One order of coconut shrimp ( was undercooked fried shrimp chunks) with a side of dough sauce that tasted aweful. 2) One large order of crab Ragoon( they were half cooked) and 5 came in large order. 3) One large order of fried shrimp. ( it batter wasn't cooked all of the way. And it came with four pieces of shrimp.

I called back in and wanted to get order corrected or a refund. And I drove a total of 60 miles over this ordeal 20 miles from there to my home then the round trip40 miles again, all to be denied a refund. I strongly suggest you stay away from this restaurant, in fear of being served undercooked food. Total waste...

Food was fresh for time of day (after lunch rush). However, if the dish wasn't highly salted, it was sweet. I think maybe they're having a mix up in the kitchen? The egg rolls in particular were a let down because it was so crispy and then you taste the cabbage, which is the only veggie inside, and it tastes like sauerkraut and oil. I've had worse, I've had better. Definitely midline for a small Indiana town.

Another big disappointment was the lack of any dishes for kids. No French fries or similar. Lots of sweets I suppose... However, my nephew didn't enjoy the ice cream, if that says anything...
