Sweet Cake's Bakery — Restaurant in Salinas

I work on the road and I always have to find restaurants or coffee shops to stop by during my day, answer some emails and calls. I was gonna stop at a McDonald's because of their free WiFi, but I am so glad I stumbled upon sweet cakes before I could reach mcdonalds! They had a "Daily special" for only $6 which included rice, a pasta salad, and the most tender and delicious chicken thighs with onions, plus a bottle of water! The food was amazing, so tasty and way healthier than McDonald's! The service was excellent. I asked for the WiFi so I could work.... (My hotspot doesn't always work). And they provided me the password with a big smile. The WiFi worked great. All the tables had outlets which allowed me to work there and be very productive. The food came out very quick, and it tasted so fresh and homemade. Like Mom's cooking. The decorations inside were lovely, restrooms very clean, staff was super quick and friendly. I wasn't drinking because I was working but they had a fully stocked bar. If I came back to Salinas on time off, I would come for some cocktails. I loved the vibe of the restaurant. Too low lights for a bakery, although very nicely decorated. We went for the long "quesitos" . Yes, they are long but nothing special besides the size. The place may have potential because several good things like ample parking, nice decoration, new restaurant facility, balcony or inside option make the place inviting. But, the service was terrible. Recommendations: establish coordination of coffee orders between bakery and restaurant (there is none, the coffees ordered at the bakery may or may not reach the coffee bar employees), buy a bigger coffee maker ( 2 ports is too small), improve illumination at bakery side. I was leading a group of 25, so I have several examples of above comments. ...

I was impressed. Arrived approximately at noon on Sunday. A modern business concept that fuses / incorporates a bakery as its main business with a bar grill, fruit juice bar, lunch & dinner menu with a spacious in and outdoor seating.

Four cashiers working at the same time with plenty of servers and support staff and pleasant attitudes (sign management is training it’s staff).

Our breakfast menu items all good. Bakery was busy and 75% full at their tables but you wouldn’t know as the efficiency of the ordering and service staff was just above normal.
