Holy guacamole (or not). I've grown up with the La Frontera chain and appreciated that this location (400 S) had that familiar ambiance, was clean, and that I had an opportunity to support local west side businesses. At 5:30 we walked in to an empty restaurant, most of the lights were off, and the two waitresses were sitting at the back chatting. They hollered for us to come in and sit down wherever. Ultimately the waitress was pleasant enough, took our order, brought our drinks, etc. I asked about it being empty, she said that was when she liked it best and she went back and sat with the other waitress in between. A Door Dash driver was made to stand and wait a few while they chatted. They continued to sit and chat, and as other guests came in they would yell for them to grab their own menu and seat themselves. Once I heard one say, "Sh@$!" and the other asked, "What, another customer?" Seemingly no such thing as a valued customer at this location. At the end of the day, none of that would have really fazed me but the tacos were completely unseasoned (not typical of any other La Frontera location) and they had no guacamole. In fact, she seemed to expect that they wouldn't have guacamole when I asked seeing it wasn't on my plate though listed as part of my dish. I got the distinct impression that they rarelyr have guac. Subpar experience here...head to Midvale, West Valley, or...
Read moreNEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! This is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to my whole life! Don't believe any of the other reviews; they must have been "staged" by friends of the owners! I got there at 6:30 on a Friday night. Any other restaurant would have been packed, but this one was nearly empty - that should have been indicator #1. The booths and decor look more like some run-down diner than a real quality restaurant. They play country music in the background...in a Mexican restaurant! I had to ask to be seated, and they just handed us a couple of menus and told us to seat ourselves. They brought over chips and salsa right away but no water until we asked for it. The salsa came in a plastic squeeze container like ketchup. The chips and salsa were very disgusting and low-grade. I asked for pico de gallo and the waitress said they didn't have any. What kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't have pico de gallo?! My date was optimistic that the food would be better, so we ordered. The food was definitely sub-par; my date didn't even feel comfortable eating hers. Her tomates had a sticker still on it, and her chicken enchiladas tasted funny and rubbery. All in all, this was the worst Mexican food experience of my life and I have no idea what inspired the...
Read moreI wish I could give it a lower rating, Living 2 blocks away I've seen this business go down little by little. Our waiter was ok she was nice but she didnt come by to refill our drinks we had to ask, we asked for a pitch of water but never gave us cups (i mean unless they would want us to drink it from the jar itself) we waited 35 minutes for our food, just 2 plates of smothered burrito (and thats cause there was only us and 1 other family of 4 there that day). Our waiter was upfront talking to the cashier about her personal problems and you can hear the cooks ringing the bell letting them know food is ready and they just ignored until one of the cooks yelled out! Oh and on top of that, we caught the cashier clipping his nails at the register. Which wouldnt be such a big deal but hello this is a restuarant where people order in food, where food sits at the counter so i mean yeah do that at home. I haven't been to this joint since 2007 and yeah i wont be going back. Sorry but i dont know how people...
