Maritza’s is our favorite Mexican Restaurant. My brother loves to come for Carnitas Wednesdays as so many others. We dine in and many of the to go orders seemed to be the Wednesday Carnitas. I like many of the dishes, taco plates, enchiladas and other combo plates. Our favorite thing that brings us here is the homemade salsa that Carmen makes every day. You can see her chopping the chili peppers and blending the delicious salsa. Many people also comment on the their salsa. The location is a little hidden in the south west area of Clairemont off of Mt Acadia in a little strip mall. The building is also set back off Mt Acadia so you need to drive to the back of parking lot entrance. It is worth going there. It is a hidden gem of Mexican Food and many of the customers are regulars which Carmen knows most by name and she knows what they normally order. She and her mom , also named Carmen are so nice and attentive. If you haven’t been there , it is a must try, highly recommended.

Get ready for some authentic Mexican food. This little off the beaten path place has got true Mexican flavors. Eating these tacos was like going back in time to my days of home cooked tacos. The salsa is homemade and delicious. A little kick to bring some zing to your meal. The staff are friendly. We really enjoyed our two taco plate with beans and rice.

Nice Mexican food but quite pricey (carne asada around $20 for that plate) but they have other cheaper plates and options. The paper plate got sliced through while I was slicing the beef steak but the food was overall quite nice. Especially enjoyed the guacamole and salsa and putting everything on the tortilla to make taco.

Id call this a hidden gem, but clearly its nothing of the sort and i have just been living under a rock!

...well, actually I knew it was there, I just wrote it off (stupidly) because of its random location in the tiny strip mall next to keg n bottle. figured it was just another dime a dozen taco shop of mediocre quality because there is no competition near it. well, as the rating and number of reviews have already indicated, i am here to say WOW this is damn good mexican. quick(ish), order at a counter mexican, but not the standard greasy taco shop we all love at 2 am all tipsy. no doubt, the food here would be delicious then as well, but the quality of the food rivals a nice sit down mexican restaurant.

I had the carne asada plate, and as you can see by my photo, talk about a generous portion of meat! 3 huge slices of quality meat. slicing it up in strips and adding all the provided fixins and salsa (delicious), i had myself a nice little carne asada soft taco meal. they actually give you a good amount of tortillas--enough for all the meat-- which was refreshing. the beans and rice were delicious and the rice had a unique spin from the standard mexican rice you get.

But really...its all about CARNITAS WEDNESDAY! only day of the week you can get it, in plate form or burrito (or taco? not sure I only get the plate). Highly recommend. and they sell out early FYI! Im talking sometimes before 5pm.

A truly wonderful establishment. i cant believe how long its been around and how nice and hospitable maritza is; always behind the counter taking the orders. i need to come back on a wednesday to hit up the carnitas specials!

cash only. and yes, its hard to spot... its the small shopping center off acworth / mt. acadia hidden by the abandoned-looking gas station (i hear is a surveillance company). Call in...

This is me and my family’s all time favorite Mexican food place. We’ve been to so many different Mexican food places in the San Diego area and none are quite as good. The refried beans are heavenly, the rice is delectable and the salsa on top ties it all together. My all time favorite plate here is the beef chimichanga. I’ve got it a good 30+ times. It’s been my favorite food since I was 9 years old. I’m 24 now. I also love the enchiladas, the sauce is the best I’ve ever tasted. I live in Utah now but I dream of this food and wish they could transport their restaurant to Utah so people can experience what good Mexican food actually tastes like. I know that’s not going to happen but it would be the best thing that ever happened to me. I at least hope they never close and their food will taste like it has for the last 15 years for the rest of my life. Nobody else tops Maritzas Mexican Food. In all the years eating there, Carmen and her daughter and their amazing cooks have never messed up an order and my family has made some biiig orders. We have a huge family. My grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles and now nieces and nephews have all enjoyed coming here. Thank you for being one of our family traditions! The quality is always ABSOLUTELY AMAZING unlike so many other food places I’ve been. I...
