Being the new guy in town, there is certainly a lot of talk about which spot has the best tacos. Roland's is my personal preference. I'm guessing they bought it back from "Sergio's?" I'm not really sure on the history of the place. Anyway, I recommend it, for sure! I always get the carnitas tacos. It's a medium sized taco joint, simple theme, nothing too fancy. The price is just a little more against the market, I think. But, it certainly makes up for it in how good it is. Also, the carne asada fries are a fan favorite with the locals. In addition, my experiences with the staff have been good. I can't complain there. Come check the place out! :) cheers!

Sorry guys. I had you guys at 5 stars, but no longer. Since the "new owner," telling me that you have "always charged $0.50, for using a card" is bs. I was there, when you guys changed owners. Check my receipts. I posted them. I was literally here for two days in a row, weeks after you changed. You lost mad character points with me. Don't get me wrong, $0.50 is nothing. It's really the principal of the matter. Lastly, recently, the carnitas tacos have been coming out soaking in oils and grease. This isn't a Philly Cheesesteak...come on. It has gotten to the point where the tortilla doesn't even hold up the structure. Excessively priced tacos already, and with quality going down, I'll take my buying power somewhere else in the...
Read moreRead moreSo normally I have a great experience with Rolando's and the food is good. But today was not so good. I call and was told that the food would be ready within 5 minutes. Don't believe them; I knew it would take longer. I called and went to another restaurant for takeout who said that the food would be ready within 7 minutes, giving them more time. 25 minutes later the food hadn't been cooked. The lady announces the orders are ready when they are, but obviously I couldn't understand her beef vs Fish thru her accent. I wait and wait. She keeps announcing several times what sounded like beef or bean burrito & 3 rolled tacos. But doesn't tell me lady this is your order. 3 ppl inside, she should have known. And ppl coming. how was I to know? Finally she asks me and I told her I thought she said beef not fish the whole time. All in all from phone call to getting my food 45 min. With all the restaurants needing business, I think I'll go to another Mexican restaurant for a while. No apologies, she made it sound like it's my fault. No thanks. I don't need the added stress with her...
I don't want to talk about the food. But I will say this : I've lived in San Diego my whole life, and it sucks that so many Mexican food places have horrible customer service. The woman in the cash register literally didn't even look me in my eyes. When I started speaking spanish, she actually looked offended. When I finished ordering, she went to the guys on the grill and started talking and laughing up a storm. Obviously no one should assume to be treated like friends/family . BUT is customer service not a requirement anymore?
NOT KIDDING: I ordered tacos and a large horchata. I was the only one in the taco shop. After the food was done she handed it to me, gave me salsas. And stared at me like...WHAT? I said, I ordered a large horchata : She asked the cook in Spanish if I really ordered that and looked for my receipt right in front of my face. Seriously! How did you forget the only order in the store not 10 minutes prior? Unless she thought that I was lying about a...
