NOT RECOMMENDING! WE GOT SICK FROM EATING HERE! I've been waiting to try the food here for quite some time. I was looking forward to it because my son was raving about it. Also the reviews are great for this place. WHICH NOW I'M NOT UNDERSTANDING. I'm a bit confused about that. The portions are huge. I had the gyro fries. Most of it was greasy fries, with some gyro meat on top. My husband had the grilled chicken burrito, which he didn't like. I thought it was better than my gyro fries.. My younger son had the carne asada fries. He didn't like it much either, he said they were greasy. The foods didn't sit well with my stomach, or my sons stomach. We've been in discomfort since that day. Because we didn't finish our food we put it away in the fridge. When I went to open the fridge the food smelled bad the next day, so I threw it out. I'm not sure if it was borderline going bad or what. But I don't think I'll be back. It was pricey but you get a lot of food. $34 for 4 items. I don't know if I went at the wrong time or got a bad batch of something. But I was so disappointed. Wish that wasn't the case because I really was looking forward to eating some delicious foods. I don't mind paying for yummy fresh food. But it just wasn't the case for myself and my family. I feel like I threw my money in the trash. I really hope this doesn't happen to...

Intrigued by the “Filipino twist” of this Mexican restaurant, I tried the namesake Sayulita’s burrito and the Spam burrito. The two were massive, easily enough to feed 2-3 people each. The burritos pretty much burst open immediately as you try to pick them up so they’re more of a fork and napkin meal. And just as well since they’re around 20 bucks each. While the quantity is appropriate to the price, the flavor definitely isn’t. These have to be the worst burritos I’ve had in San Diego in my whole life. Absolutely foul. The Sayulita’s had a very fishy taste like drinking melted ice off of a fishmonger’s display and this overpowering bitterness that permeated the rice (which was 70% of the filling btw) and the rest of the ingredients. I’m not sure where it was coming from. Maybe their bacon was going bad or maybe the lettuce (why lettuce in a burrito bro) was past its prime and got bitter as it wilted. Anyway, I couldn’t get more than a couple bites before I gave up. Hate wasting food and money but I was worried I might get sick.

The spam burrito was edible but nothing special. Mostly unseasoned egg mixed with chunks of salty spam and bolus of rice, cheese and sour cream as filler for the massive thing. Edible but not worth the money, IMO.

The staff was very nice and...

The place looks beautiful in the inside and it was very warming but I had a bad experience with my order and customer service. I came in on a Saturday with my boyfriend and we had ordered the PAC MAN fries with “ALL the meat on the side” and we received the order with only the carne asada on the side and the bacon was all over it. I’m vegetarian so I couldn’t eat the food and kindly asked for them to remake it and they gave me an attitude but said they would remake it. It should have ended there but shortly, 2 minutes after a man came out from the back and gave us more attitude saying “next time ask for all the meat on the side.” I had explained that I did and he continued to argue saying that we didn’t ask for the bacon on the side either. Apparently these people don’t understand what “ALL the meat” means. Bacon is considered meat. If they don’t want to have to remake orders then maybe the cashier should listen in the first place. After we couldn’t even feel comfortable eating there, they made the atmosphere...

Sayulitas is my favorite burrito spot in SD, hands down. First off, they're HUGE. I think I can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner from a single burrito 😂 Second off, they're so creative! They have so many different flavor combinations, not just your regular burrito. I love that they put some Filipino style food in some of them too 🤤 My go-to is the Pac Man, it's SO delicious. An explosion of carbs and goodness. The fries and carne asada in combination with the filipino tocino is just perfection. It gives it a tinge of sweetness reminiscent of Char Siu (Chinese BBQ pork). These burritos are definitely not for those unadventurous with their food, but if you like trying new things and combinations of flavors, this is the place for you! The price is good for the size! Pictured: The Pac Man. Look at the size of that foodbaby!

I have going to this place for a while but after yesterday I was so unhappy with the food.I ordered carne asada fries I took my son and mother the carne asada fried we’re horrible.. the fries were hard as rock the meat was dry and burned and had to return them it was hard seeing my family forced to eat it due to how much I had paid. For exchange I asked for 3 tacos de cabeza, they smelled bad and had no taste. As soon as we looked at them we were in shock, I gave it to my dogs and the next day they had diarrhea. The most upsetting thing was that the young lady in the register did not even apologize or even ask why we were taking the tacos home, or if we were satisfied? It was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. No more sayulitas for our family.
