Cory's Cakes — Restaurant in San Juan

• The first picture with the full image is what i paid and asked for the second is how they made my sons cake* I hate what they did to my order they completely did something other than what i asked I went in on valentines day and placed an order for my sons 10th birthday big deal for me since he was turning double digits and I wanted a cake that was a bit more mature looking to celebrate his age, the woman that took my order was super nice and we went over the details for almost an hour i specifically told her I wanted it exactly like the picture and have the image fill the cake no white outlines and she even wrote it on the paper I paid for filling and personal drawings on the cake I sent her all the images and even edited the picture so It can be darker on the cake I paid around 90$ for it, some in ebt some in cash I was so excited I asked if I can pay for it all there she said yes but I asked her if she can double check with the owner since I knew their policy that you can't pay in full at once, the owner was there she asked her and she said yes so I paid for it when, I picked up the cake I was so disappointed they didn't do it at all how I wanted it and it was such a simple order, the lady who gave me the cake had so much attitude and I told her this isn't what I ordered and that I wanted the picture in full she said she would have to charge me extra because the cake size was for 35 ppl and I paid only for half a picture and I told her you guys could have called me I would have been more than happy to pay for the full imagine , that's not what they told me when I placed the order and she looked at the order sheet and she said yes I see you paid in ebt I was like what does that matter ??? I paid in cash also and she said I wasn't supposed to pay it in full I did tell her the owner was there the day I paid for it and she allowed it she then proceeds to tell me "It doesn't matter what the owner says that's the policy regardless " so much attitude and very rude I was so upset she didn't even care one bit and degraded me on how I paid, once I got home and we sang happy birthday the cake was dry and I ordered filling in the cake they literally just put frosting instead in the middle and on top of everything the image was very faded I used to love coming here I've ordered cakes here before I'm going to have to find another bakery which really makes me sad but the service and heart isn't there anymore with this bakery, another thing when I was ordering the cake I asked for dinasour feet prints around the cake on the bottom border (not on top) and the baker was like yes but it's going to take me forever because I have to be precise literally complaining about decorating the cake why do you work there then? I miss the old decor who did my Halloween cake she was so excited and looked like she loved her job 😢 ...

I have been ordering 12+ cakes a year for over 15 years from Cory's. Over the last 5 years, the cakes have gotten smaller, the prices have gotten higher, and more and more errors are being made. Cakes are not as moist. Bread is missing and the areas are filled with icing to make the shape, which you do not see until you cut into it. On my father's cake they wrote "happy birthday grampa" instead of "grandpa". On my brother in laws cake they wrote Erik instead of Eric even though it was spelled out for them and correct on the order form. To some these are not important errors, but you never know when someone will no longer be around and birthdays are very important in my family so these things do matter. When you contact them in regards to an error, they do nothing to correct it. I used to recommend Cory's to everyone I knew, that is going to change. The quality is no better than HEB cakes now 🤷‍♀️ But HEB isn't going to charge you a minimum of $10 extra to draw ANYTHING other than balloons...

I have been ordering my daughters birthday cakes here and they always meet my expectations. The customer service has gotten better. The girls were nice and sweet. I was very happy yet again with my daughters cake. They even added some glitter to make her mermaid cake more whimsical. They did the same with her last birthday cake which was unicorn theme. They made me super happy. My parents would come here since i was a child to order my birthday cakes and they were always so pretty. Now I'm doing the same with my daughter. I've never had a problem with their cakes. It was the customer service I had a problem but I see it is better now. I will continue coming here. Also wanted to add that I always ask them first if they can do a design for me before placing my order. They're pretty good at telling me whether they can or can't. It's not a problem if they can't. At least they're honest. One thing they don't do is Disney anymore because of copyright and they don't want to get sued which is...
