My family & I are staying in the area on vacation and also celebrating my husband's upcoming birthday. We went to the Lodge for dinner on a busy Friday night and expected to have a wait. For that reason, we just added our names to the wait list and grabbed drinks to sit outside and wait our turn. We were told it would be a 30 - to 40-minute wait and given a pager. After 40 minutes passed and we got no page, we went in to check. The staff checked the list and said we were next....then a minute later took us to an empty table. We ordered the steak bites well done for an appetizer. Which we received, and they were excellent. My husband ordered a WELL-done burger, I ordered white fish, and my daughter ordered the walleye. We watched two tables of patrons come in, sit, and begin eating their meals as we continued to sit and wait. In this time, I did get my salad, and my daughter got her Cole slaw. But our meals were very delayed coming to the table and when we asked, our waiter told us it was my white fish that we were waiting on. As we continued to wait and my husband pointed out the two tables of people that literally came in after us, but we're eating, our friendly waiter apologized and said he'd tell the manager. Now, we weren't looking for a free meal. It's not what we do, nor were we looking to complain or return food. But, you would think that ANY manager of an establishment such as this, would at the very least make their way to our table because after waiting, my husband's burger came medium rare and pink, which he could not eat. The manager never came to the table but told our waiter to tell us she would take $1 off the tab. This is so unacceptable on every level, and even our young waiter knew it was unfair and tried to give us $10 of his own money. Obviously, we weren't taking the kid's money, and it wasn't his fault, but this so-called manager needs to be in a completely different line of work. My thing is, for the price of this meal, it should have been phenomenal, and the wait wouldn't matter as much. The food was decent, but not all that great. You never, ever have to worry about us patronizing this place again, and I made sure to let other family and friends that were meeting us know to...
Read moreWe enjoyed a family meal with my in laws and the food was perfectly fine. It was pretty busy in there so I’m not upset about the long waiting times for food, however we didn’t once get refills until I asked for more water and she brought it after all of our meals were finished. Again, I realize waitressing is a tough job and they were all busy, but we didn’t get our salads before our food, and we were hardly checked on at all. All of this considered, I still wouldn’t have written a bad review. Where the 1-star comes in is that the new management poses poor business skills. We received a gift card less than a year ago for our wedding, tried to use it today, and they told us that because of the new system they couldn’t honor any gift cards without a receipt from the purchase date. We received the gift card as a wedding present so we don’t have a receipt, as most people that have gift cards probably received them as gifts as well, most likely also don’t have receipts. We told our waitress we understood that it wasn’t her fault but asked to speak to a manager to see if they could even give us a $25 comp, assuming a wedding present was even more than that. She told us that there’s nothing they can do and they can’t accept any gift cards without the receipt. For all I know, our gift card could have had $500, I’m not sure. But all we asked for was a $25 comp because there’s obviously SOMETHING on the gift card and they told us sorry, nothing they can do. This is terrible business in my opinion and a situation where the business should have to eat the cost of gift cards or have some sort of policy with the old ones to honor those that have purchased them. Gift cards do not expire but it seems almost as if they have a work around to this. They told us that they put out a message to their customers when they switched over, but that only appeals to certain local customers, and also, that means that if they’d already bought a gift card, but didn’t keep the receipt, then they were already SOL anyway. To reiterate, the service wasn’t great, but I’m not upset about the service or at the server, however at the...
Read moreOverall, this place is worth going to. Beware, there is a 4% fee for using credit cards. It's mentioned on the door, but I didn't see it anywhere else, and it isn't called out in your first bill.
Be ordered a shrimp appetizer that was ok. It had lightly fried breading, and while I expected the sauce to be cooked into it, it came on the side. It tasted like a combination of ketchup, mayonnaise, and Sweet Baby Rays Buffalo sauce.
We got the smoked salmon with a baked potato and the walleye with mashed and beef gravy. The smoked salmon was about 12oz, which is bigger than I expected. It didn't really taste smoked, but it was tender and moist. The baked potato was as expected There were 3 pieces of walleye. The tartar sauce and walleye were both good. The breading was light and crispy. The gravy on the masked potatoes was good. The salads with the entrees were small but not overly small. The ranch was good. They came with a small piece of bread that was ok. It was kind of stale tasting, but that may have been the type of baguette they used.
Before the tip it was around $57, which was cheaper than I guessed. That included an appetizer, 2 entries, and a 22oz beer that was only $4. We may come back for a date night as it's a nice place, but I try to avoid any place that charges extra for using a card. It is...
