If I had an option for NEGATIVE Stars, that's what I and my guests would be selecting. On a Sunday, 12:30p.m., restaurant had patrons but not overwhelmingly busy. First table we were seated at could have been considered a 'rocking table' as it was so unstable. We attempted to level it, to no avail. We then moved to a different table, one large e nough to seat the three of us and completely cleared of any previous customer remnants. At this point, a male server began snapping at us that the table was dirty and he could not have anyone sitting at it! We explained the problem with the first table to which he said "I know, BUT I CANNOT HAVE YOU AT THIS TABLE!!". As we returned to previously assigned table, we all determined we did not need to be spoken to that harshly, and mutually agreed to walk out. Myself and my two guests have over 100 years combined hands-on experience in the food industry, and had just completed two nights of cooking and serving over 200 guests each night for a local dinner theater production, so we do understand how it is supposed to work. This particular server always come across as overworked and stressed, every time I visit this establishment. Perhaps he find a different job with less stress or at least learn how to speak to customers, not berate them. We quickly found a reliable and cheerful server at...
Read moreIt's in a nursing home...if you can get past that fact, they are open to everyone. The food is good, the service is nice and the prices are better than you'd find elsewhere for comparable food. I'm not sure how they'd advertise the fact that they are in a nursing home, but it can be a surprise when you're thinking you've made a reservation at an "upscale" restaurant as they've described themselves in their google description. It's not that - it's not upscale, the decor is somewhere between perkins and old super club. It made for a slightly strange experience while we were on a date for valentines day dinner. The crowd was 75/25 residents to other couples that all also had a strange look on their face and felt slightly awkward that they were here for a nice dinner in a nursing home...it was a weird experience that we will likely laugh about for years to come...remember that time we went to a nursing home for our valentines day dinner. I'll finish with/reiterate - the food was good and everyone was super nice. Go there and enjoy a good meal, just know it's at a...
Read moreI came up to the area to visit my grandmother and was looking forward to our lunch at Drake. First, the service in general, from the drinks to the food, was eternally slow.
The only highlight happened early. We had the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and they were DELICIOUS! 10 out of 10. Amazing.
That excitement was short lived as we received our entrees. My fries were cold and my BLT was missing the avocado as advertised. When I asked for it, I received a cup of brick hard slices that tasted like they’d been sitting in the refrigerator for days. We were all missing various condiments we had requested. My sister and grandma’s walleye was not delicious. We do more than our share of walleye fish fries and this not the quality you would expect at a place billing itself as “fine dining.” I’ve had better out the back door of an American Legion.
Get the stuffed mushrooms to go and...
