Hagy's Catfish Hotel Restaurant in Savannah, TN is a beloved dining landmark in Hardin County, especially for those craving a delicious catfish dinner. I've had the pleasure of visiting this establishment numerous times and exploring a variety of menu options, all of which have been consistently good.
The staff at Hagy's is always courteous and friendly, although at times they may seem a bit overwhelmed, resulting in some challenges in promptly attending to table needs. It's important to note that due to its popularity, the restaurant can get quite busy. This means you may experience a wait for a table and a longer wait for your order to arrive from the kitchen. Additionally, it's worth mentioning that certain menu items, like sweet potatoes or baked potatoes, may occasionally run out.
While I do have a couple of concerns to address, I still hold Hagy's in high regard. Firstly, their prices have seen a significant increase over the past few years. While I understand that this is a common trend, the percentage of the price hike at Hagy's seems higher than average. Secondly, their chicken tenders, which were once hand-made and delightful, now seem to be pre-made frozen tenders lacking flavor and exhibiting a rubbery texture.
Despite these criticisms, I will continue to return to Hagy's and even bring visitors along. It remains one of the top dining choices in the area, with a unique and charming ambiance. The overall experience and the consistently good food make it a worthwhile destination.
In summary, Hagy's Catfish Hotel Restaurant is a cherished spot for a delightful catfish dinner and more. While they may face challenges during peak times, their friendly staff and their menu options ensure a satisfying dining experience. Don't let the occasional wait or minor menu changes deter you, as Hagy's still offers a wonderful dining charm that keeps me coming...

The Catfish Hotel is the go-to spot for catfish and good vittles in the Shiloh area.
Firstly, the restaurant and grounds are impressive. A neat building, plenty of parking on the banks of the Tennessee River! Just beautiful.
Secondly, you are greeted with a smile and they are truly glad you are dining with them. Service is excellent and genuine.
Thirdly, you will not leave hungry. Itâs lots of food, prepared well.
For those going for the first time, be advised the Cole slaw is not a traditional mayo, sweet slaw. Itâs chopped cabbage and carrots served with a side of dressing of your choice. Also, the dressing are varied and unique. The 1,000 island is a touch sweeter than you expect. The ranch is excellent.
The hush puppies are basic hush puppies no surprises with corn, onions or sugar.
The onion rings are amazing! You get a crispy mountain of rings! These are worth the trip. They sold out of the bloominâ onions by 6:00 pm on the 4th. My imagination says these are excellent as well.
The whole fried catfish is seasoned well, fried right and is served sliced so the meat pulls right away from the bone. If you are not used to whole, bone-in fish the flavor is stronger than filets. The filets are great! Thick, seasoned and fried crispy.
Baked sweet potato is perfect and served with butter and brown sugar on the side.
They also have baked potatoes and fries.
Side salads are fresh.
They also have an assortment of fried items; shrimp, clams and deviled crabs. In addition, Burgers, chicken and even picky eaters can find a menu item to satisfy.

Read moreWe had dinner at Hagy's for my 65th birthday. This was not our first visit nor will it be our last. The food and atmosphere is absolutely delightful. I had the seafood combo platter with clam strips and fried frog legs with a blue cheese tossed salad. If you've never had frog legs you should try them. They're delicious and they taste kind of like chicken. The batter dipped onion rings and hush puppies were the best I've had. Special mention to the brewed sweet tea with free refills. Wife got fried catfish and steamed veggies with a side of their signature cole slaw. Their cole slaw is slightly sweet and very good and I'm not a big cole slaw fan as a rule. Son had a catfish sandwich with fries and my in-laws had catfish and a sweet potato. We had no room for desert and brought home leftovers to enjoy the next day. I don't think they allow you to leave hungry. This place is way out of the way nestled in the Shiloh battlefield down a long lonely access road next to the Tennessee river. It's living proof that, if you build it, they will come. Prices are reasonable too for a restaurant of this caliber. Service was also attentive, fast and friendly. Come give it a try when you're in south western Tennessee. They do get very busy sometimes so be prepared to wait.
Suggestion: The clam strips were great but nothing beats hand shucked, whole belly fried clams. Maybe it's not a southern thing. I'm from Connecticut. Also, fried okra would make a nice addition. My...
