McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Savannah

This place was not overly busy, yet it took over 20 minutes to get my order. I ordered a reuben and a cup of soup. Easy, or so I thought.... There was all kinds of chaos and confusion amongst the staff. The kitchen and front of house were not working together. I watched food be taken to a table, and then brought back 5 minutes later because it went to the wrong table. The "server" actually tried to send that returned plate to the correct table, saying "they never touched it, it's fine." And repeated that a few times. Thankfully the kitchen stopped her and said she couldn't serve that plate. I've been in the food service industry in the past, so I KNEW that was not allowed. When my order finally was ready, I took it and headed home, almost an hour away. I should have checked the order before I left with it, but I was running way behind as it was and having waited as long as I did..... Well, I got home, opened the bag and pulled my food out. The "cup" of soup that I was upcharged over $3 for was all of 4 ounces of soup, and my sandwich was the baguette with corned beef and NOTHING else. My total was over $18 for the meal. No where near worth what I was charged!! This location is not in a major city, but the prices are more what you'd expect from a big city location. As I live nearly an hour away, going back to the restaurant just wasn't an option, especially with gas prices as high as they are! This was the 2nd time I've been to this location and both times my order was incorrect. Again, living so far away we just sucked it up, over $30 for the incorrect order that time. I get people have bad days, which is why we didn't make a big deal of it the first time. But for it to happen again on another visit, several months apart, it's just too much! We won't be patronizing this location, or restaurant chain again! I RARELY eat out these days because money is beyond tight so it really took a lot for me to spend my last $20 bucks there to start with. But to have the order messed up, yet again, and the crazy upcharging for the small amount of soup I was given?!!! Nope, won't make a fool of me again!!! Very disappointed and disgusted. Costly...

The cashier had no personal skills didn't even greet us. She had a hard time understanding the vip coupon u had from them messing up my sandwich twice before. She forgot half our order. When the older woman with the tattoos and white hair brought our food with no silverware and when asked for forks for the potatoe she said they normally aren't served with them. What?! Then when I asked where the rest of our order was she said it wasn't on the bill. I them said well we knew she was struggling with the basic order but this is ridiculous. The older lady then lost it and told me she didn't appreciate me speaking about her workers like that. I said as a customer I'm allowed to co.plain when the service is awful. We wouldn't have even been there if they hadn't already messed up our order previously. She then threatened to throw us out. I said great give me a refund and we will leave. She said I won't give you a refund. I said if leave without our food or money I will see you in court. I'll just call theowner. She said I'll call them. I said please do I would love to talk to them about your behavior and escalation of a customer complaint about service. Would love love love to talk...

Looking at the menu, one would think strictly soup & and sandwiches, but one would be strictly short-sighted indeed. I recommend the Memphian but wonder why it isn't BBQ. The broccoli cheddar soup is without a doubt top shelf. Table service continues all thur your meal with your drink being filled or dessert being added last minute. When paying for your meal, remember everyone on staff gets a share, so don't be stingy. That's right, from management to cook to clean up get a tip. I think the policy is also top shelf. Enjoy...
