Soul Sistah's Kitchen — Restaurant in Scott

Soul Sistah’s kitchen is the kitchen for soul/southern food and BBQ, and it’s the best kept secret in the Lafayette area. Nestled in a small spot right between Scott and Lafayette, it has the feeling that if you came upon a neighborhood for the first time, and people were cooking out, you would think this goes on all the time. But they are official, the real deal, the ones with a secret to plate-lunch style food on the west side of the city. If you see Oxtail stew on the menu, get it!

I have had their BBQ on Sundays, and have met the cook. First, let me say I would have to pay double for a plate of what they game me anywhere else: country style ribs, sausage, dressing, and two sides. The meat was done with a sweet and spicy finish, the sausage had a nice smoked finish and the dressing was so good it would make my granny jealous. Second, the bbq pit master is a real cool dude. Gets up early, does the work, goes to church and then gets back to see how things are running.

I really hope their business continues to thrive. Given I’m always driving by, they will be my go to plate...
