We had North Country cater our wedding at our vacation home that was about 20 minutes from their location. We fell in love with their breakfast food and thought it would fit nicely with our non traditional theme.
So we have been communicating back and forth for months. Throughout the process of planning I would take notes each and every time we went to talk to them about our event. There were a number of miscommunications about the trash (being that it was at a residential lot). We agreed in the beginning that they would take the trash in their truck as they clean everything. Then she said we would have to take the trash to their facility the day after the wedding. As we got closer somehow that was no longer the case-we would have to find our own dumpsters. On the day of they did end up taking it and it was fine-we just wish we didn't have to go through the stress of finding a back up plan.
A week or so before our event we were told they would be at our venue at 3 pm on the day of the rehearsal to set up. As I am the bride, I was very occupied and not available for tracking them down. They didn't show up until 11 pm when we got back from the rehearsal dinner. So they must have set up all night, but I couldn't worry about that-I needed to get rest.
We were told months before the caterer would show up at our event at 4 (a half hour before the ceremony, and one hour before cocktail hour). They were an hour and a half late. My guests were very thirsty as it was very hot and they had to wait on their drinks.
The bar tender was very friendly. However, he didn't serve the drinks the right way. He put way too much rum in the drinks and didn't offer the beer that we were providing.
Since our caterer was so late, I (the bride, on my wedding day) went out of my way to request that the dinner be served at the time I had previously discussed. I also had to ask them to set out our dessert, which they were aware of. After 15 minutes go by, the mother of the bride and the matron of honor had to prepare the dessert and bring it out to be served.
We were not given an option to take any leftovers. I purchased $4,000 worth of food (or so) and didn't get any of it despite discussing that we would get leftovers. There was plenty left over and my groom and I and our families would have enjoyed having the food we bought.
To conclude, the family of the bride, the groom, and the bride were not very happy with their service. Though the servers were friendly and pleasant, there were many things that went wrong. I am very disappointed in the tardiness on both the rehearsal day and wedding day, the miscommunication, the bar service, and the wasted food that I paid for. Had there been a way for them to communicate with us about their lateness, remembered what was discussed or take better notes, understand our bar menu, or wait to pack the food to talk to our families about left overs, this review may have...
Read moreTitle: A Hidden Gem in the Hill Country I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Little Country Diner, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. Tucked away along State Highway 71, this unassuming spot offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels like stepping into a friend’s cozy kitchen. Service: 5/5 The service here is top-notch. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about making your dining experience enjoyable. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a smile, and they go out of their way to ensure you feel right at home. Soup: 4.5/5 Now, let’s talk about the soup. If you’re a soup lover like me, you’re in for a treat. The daily soup specials are made from scratch, and they hit the spot on a chilly day. Whether it’s a hearty chicken noodle, a comforting tomato bisque, or a flavorful chili, you won’t be disappointed. Pair it with their fresh-baked bread, and you’ve got a winning combination. Menu Variety: 4/5 While the focus is on classic American comfort food, the menu offers a nice variety. From chicken-fried steak to Philly cheesesteak omelets, there’s something for everyone. And don’t miss their cucumber salad – it’s light, refreshing, and a perfect side. Atmosphere: 4/5 The diner has a rustic charm, with checkered tablecloths and vintage decor. It’s the kind of place where locals gather for breakfast chats and travelers find solace in a warm cup of coffee. If the weather is nice, grab a seat on the outdoor patio and soak in the Texas sunshine. Value: 5/5 The prices are reasonable, especially considering the generous portions. You won’t leave hungry, and your wallet won’t feel too light either. In summary, the Little Country Diner is a delightful spot that captures the essence of small-town hospitality. Whether you’re passing through or a regular, you’ll leave with a full belly and a smile. Don’t miss this hidden gem in the heart of the...
Read moreThis place tastes AMAZING, but UNRELIABLE, if you are getting catering from them make sure you are flexible because besides for bringing the food we asked for they missed the mark or completely ignored all the things that we talked about and agreed on. If I had known they would be this unreliable I would have not used them to cater. My wedding was back in August. That one exceptionally hot Saturday in 2018. And while I loved their food
They did not leave leftovers as discussed They forgot many things we talked about in the planning phase. They did not show up on time on the day before the wedding so we could check in and tell them the plan. They showed up during our vows of the wedding slightly interrupting the ceremony and caused one of our guests to miss out on the ceremony completely. The bartender hired was expected to cut people off if they were going to get too many drinks as we had some alcohol sensitive people, instead he got people drunk. They didn't serve water until much later into the dinner. The didn't serve the desert even though we talked about it. (the bride's mother ended up doing it.) served dinner an hour late They changed their mind 5 times and had different stories each time on whether they were going to take garbage as discussed
pros The bartender was cool to talk to They added our recipes to the catered food Their food was to die for.
Most of these problems would have never happened if they showed up the day before at 3pm like we talked about instead of 11pm. So make sure you instead of telling them what to do write them a to do list and be meticulous so they can't mess it up.
If you are looking for a separate opinion my wife posted too...
