We were visiting Selma for King’s birthday, from out of state. We wanted to viisit the historical sites and decided to go to Lannie’s for dinner and were extremely disappointed with the food and service! We waited about an hour for our food. We were happy to do this if the food was good but it was not! My mom ordered beef brisket but she said it was like a barbecue roast. The ribs were pretty bad as well. Very large, the bones were black, and not seasoned. They also still had the membranes on. The greens were sour, and the mac and cheese was bland. The wings were huge, bbq sauce was thin and sour, and none of the fried foods were crispy. I think they probably should have cut air holes into the boxes so the meat didn’t sweat. Lastly, after waiting an hour, the woman taking orders had the nerve to have an awful attitude. She might have felt overwhelmed but it still isn’t an excuse to be short and impatient with customers. She also charged my mom 50 cents for a cup of ice. 50 cents!!! After waiting an hour, AT LEAST the cup of ice could have been free. And after all that, the food was below average at best. We decided to try this place because of all the reviews but I wanted to add a different perspective. And I have tried to call the restaurant to give them a chance to make it right but we’re not able to get through. I will try to call again tomorrow and I am happy to delete this review if they seem receptive to the feedback!
Again very sad to...
Read moreUgh..where to begin. After being referred to this place by a local, I held high hopes. Let me begin by saying something good. The young lady at the counter was kind and attentive and very helpful. Now the bad part and I mean bad. Place smelled of mildew. After ordering a half chicken. I was told 5 minutes later there was no baked chicken and opted in for the pulled/shredded chicken. When food arrived. I was surprised to see fajita styled chicken strips covered in sauce.. This was clearly microwaved Walmart chicken fajita strips covered in what became clear was ketchup mixed with water, clearly canned baked beans that weren't warm and still retained the can taste, frozen French fries and and a store bought cold roll. I refrained from eating this food after tasting it and left after it became clear what it all was. Just an utter disappointment. I did not complain or ask for my money back as this is a small business and noone was in there and noone came in while I was there. I try really hard to like places like this. But I just can't and you probably shouldn't either. Hate to say it but just go somewhere else. And yes I'm 100% positive this is...
Read moreWhile in Selma, I wanted to eat at a black-owned restaurant. Lannie’s is a different experience if you’re visiting from a northern city. They treat you like family, and I say “treat you like family”, I mean they will turn away and talk to someone else while you are talking to them - just like family! LOL. There is a dining room but no table service. You order your food like a takeout restaurant and you may take a seat in the dining room. There are no posted menus and it was obvious that I was a tourist when I was the only person in the busy lobby who asked to one. I think the price of a rib dinner on the menu was a little less than what I was charged. They were taking orders in a notebook and had a little confusion about who ordered what. However, the food was great and the price was much less than I expected. Overall, I recommend Lannie’s. The food tastes like good home cooking and the staff is down to earth....
