Update: the first review was around March 2024 it got a response from management, but before that instance my friend already notified management in December of 2023 with a photo in an email of a rodent by our table and on June 2024 there was still mice running around. Current photos attached. We had a mouse litterally run under our bench. We didn't know if we should jump on top of the table to get away from having rodents run up our pant legs. They obviously not taking rodents seriously at this joint. It is been a known ongoing issue.
Previous review: There is mice not mouse, "plural not singular" running around on the floor, and for that I can only give the restuarant an overall one star rating. Rodents in my eating space and my appetite don't mix.
I don't go often but the first time it was one big fat mouse that felt quite at home there almost like a pet, but now this week when I was there it was plural (mice) running back and forth in the middle of the room, not just spotted once but running back and forth. Both visits the staff was made aware, but you could tell it was a normal occurrence by the response they gave.
Last time my friend that was with me at the restuarant sent an email to management, and they replied quickly by saying that it been taken care of, but evidently it was not, since the rodents have only multiplied over the last 6 months.
As far as the food goes, I could rate it 3.5 to 4 star. It's okay, not great, but okay for a dinner. They do however need to switch over from cheap iceberg white lettuce to Romain lettuce or some edible kind of fresh lettuce for the garden salad they offer.
The staff is very good. No complaints there. They do come around with fresh apple fritters for appetizers, all you want and then later with a fresh warm baked roll, so that is good.
Cleanliness, not so much, aside from the rodents freely running around the dinning room, it makes you wonder how many bags are chewed open by mice and urinated on in the kitchen.
Bathroom doors are from the 70's and have a lot of grime on them since the 70's, are tight for wheel chair accessibility, and the check-out area and counter is seriously outdated and cash register area has never been dusted, as is the overall lack of cleanliness of the restuarant environment.
It is conveniently located right off exit 200, but the restaurant needs a serious makeover, torn outdated chairs need to be replaced, rodents exterminated, and in need of a serious deep spring cleaning.
Other then that it's pretty good for a local dinner but exit 200 would an excellent location to have a nice overall clean, rodent free restuarant with nice big "clean" wheelchair accesible restrooms, modern table and chairs, and great food to serve both the locals and pull a lot of...
Read moreOk so my wife and I have driven past this place many times commuting between Tulsa and Ardmore and finally we decide to get dinner the other night. Let me start by saying that the food was absolutely disgusting. I absolutely love catfish so I figured I'd get the catfish dinner since it's in the name of the restaurant and I figured it would be good. My gosh I'm glad I didn't pay the extra for all you can eat because that's the nastiest catfish I've ever had in my life. The seasoning had absolutely no flavor whatsoever there was a lot of black spots on the fish and it had the most fishy taste I've ever tasted. I wasn't able to finish but only 1 piece of fish it was that gross. Now the coleslaw. I mean they couldn't mess up the coleslaw could they? Oh but they did. Some people may like their coleslaw super sweet but I don't. It also taste like the coleslaw is made with miracle whip instead of Mayo. Wouldn't surprise me if it was. It was terrible and I didn't eat it. The fries were the only edible thing on my plate and they were just ok. My wife got the chicken fried steak and she said it was ok but she definitely would not go back to get it. The only thing she really liked was the apple desert things they bring around to the table. Also the soda was super flat and tasted off. Like the mixture of CO2 to syrup was not set right. Definitely had more sweet taste than anything. There is a Chinese buffet in siminole that only had like 10 items and I will 100% go back there before I would ever eat here again. The staff was friendly and that's the only positive it had going for it. Definitely don't understand how there was so many people there. Maybe lack of options? Would be my guess. People that live out in the middle of nowhere that don't know what tasty food is. I live in a bigger city with many more options and places that actually have very flavorful catfish. Save your money and turn around and go back to siminole and find something...
Read moreWhen me, my wife, and son walked into here for the first time, it appeared to be a quaint, down to earth diner, but most of the food was pretty terrible.
Shortly after we were seated, our waitress took our drink order. The drinks (sweet tea) were great. They came in very large glasses, filled with crushed ice, and fresh tea that was a tad on the not-so-sweet side (how I like it personally).
After she took our order, another lady came by with apple fritters, and dinner rolls. These were awesome!
Our enjoyment ended when our food arrived however. My wife's chicken fried steak was completely drowned in white gravy. When this happens it is normally because the back of the house is trying to hide the steak, so we dissected it. Underneath the gravy everything was very dark, due to what appeared to be old grease, and she said it tasted "off" (not rancid, just that there was something not right with it).
Her potatoes were terrible, and had seasonings that did not pair well with simple white gravy.
My son, and I ordered the "all you can eat" catfish which was a waste of money. The fish was muddy (I ate half a piece and threw the rest in the trash). The tarter sauce was gross, and seemed to use either a fake, or cheap mayo as its base. The fries were OK. The cole slaw wasn't very good either, and had a grassy flavor (I have never had cole slaw that I didn't like, until then).
The waitress was friendly enough at first, but her attitude changed when she could tell that we didn't like the food. Almost like this happens a lot, and was preparing for an argument. Instead of asking us what the problem was she just decided to ignore it.
I could not possibly recommend this place to anybody unless they want a cold drink and some delicious fritters, and dinner rolls. Do yourself a favor, and skip...
