I enjoyed the warm and homey atmosphere throughout the inside of the restaurant. I don't think I've ever seen so many pig related decorations in my life! The hostess was very friendly and seated us right away in a small room in the back which provided a great view to the airstrip. However, I felt quickly forgotten as a server didn't come to our table in a timely manner. The hostess was seating another table and frantically noticed we didn't have drinks and were sitting at the table idly, clearly prepared with our food orders. Going above and beyond, the hostess returned promptly with our drinks and our server finally appeared. She was very curt and didn't explain to us that they were out of certain meats until we tried to order the sampler. She said she would check with the chef if we could substitute one of the meats. She returned and stated that they only had "one chicken left" so we couldn't order the sampler. I tried to order the brisket but she then said "that's what we're out of" which I hadn't heard until that moment. I ended up getting the pulled pork plate, and the tin can nachos as an appetizer. The nachos were fantastic and were topped with brisket. I'm glad I got to try the brisket that way, but I wasn't impressed. I found the temperature of the meat to be uneven throughout the dish. I felt the same way with my pulled pork. The meat wasn't very flavorful, and again I noticed some pieces were cold while others seemed to be warmed up but not hot. My potato salad had spices I wasn't expecting but was a good take on another variation of potato salad. Honestly, my fries were the best part of the meal as they were crisp and fried to perfection. Overall I felt my meal and experience was okay, but nothing spectacular that the current reviews had me expecting. It was fun to see the activity on the...
Read moreThe high rating and number of reviews attracted us to the Pik N Pig for lunch. I ordered the combo with smoked chicken and pulled pork. My fries came out extremely under cooked, several were still white on the outside. The smoked flavor of the chicken was average and unoriginal. The chicken was also very dry. The pulled pork was better, same dry rub, but the flavor was better on pork and it was much more moist and tender. The corn bread was extremely dry and crumbly, I ended up eating it with a spoon. Sadly, the best thing on the plate was my baked sweet potato.
They sell thier own bottled BBQ sauce and had bottles at the table. I'm a big lover of BBQ sauces and I was very disappointed. The "BBQ Sauce" tasted like they added vinegar and thier dry rub seasoning to ketchup. Any grocery store bought sauce is quite a lot better. The bottle at the table looked like it hadn't been changed out in years
I was not happy with the service either. I spent a good minute wandering around the dining area looking for the restroom, finally waved at a server that came from the kitchen headed for a table. She stopped, we made eye contact, she smiled at me, I asked where the restroom was and she didn't reply, set the food on the table she headed for and went back into the kitchen. A customer noticed me and pointed me toward the entrance. As I left the restroom, a different server pushed through the doorway leading back to the dining area while I was aleady halfway through, popped a quick "Excuse me" and rang up a customer at the register.

Read moreThe food was great as usual...our waitress was very friendly, attentive and prompt during our service. The extra pitcher of tea on our table was a bonus for our group. However, one of the greeters (older lady with blonde/grey hair-there were two hostess but the one with the short curly coif was friendly) was very rude, nasty attitude and acted as if she was bothered when we asked to be seated at a rear table in the small room with doors.
A group of us visited the restaurant for our annual Christmas gift exchange and knew it would be a lot of gift bags, wrapping paper, and talking and we didn't want to disturb the other diners.
When she was told this when we arrived, she sat us a table in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by other customers. When asked to move us, she snatched up the menus and didn't acknowledge the group members saying, "Thank you", "We appreciate you moving us", "We truly thank you"...she quickly proceeded to the room we requested and almost threw the menus on the table.
I would have given 5 stars but she was extremely rude. Everyone said their food was good from the fried pickles to the chicken, pulled chicken sandwiches, brisket and the jalepeno butter with the muffin. I was not a fan of the potato salad and cole slaw. The tea tastes like tea, not sweetened water with a hint of tea. You must pay with cash or an NC check.
You can order large pans to go too. One of the members in my group purchased 2 pounds of the brisket for her family's gathering. They pack it for...
