You can tell this is a family run restaurant. It's very small and the parking is a bit unusual - however it's the best Mexican food anywhere near Pigeon Forge. Everything is so flavorful and it started with friendly staff and a nice clean, welcoming interior.
Salsa had a nice mixture of cilantro and just a tiny touch of warmth. Guacamole was different with a touch more lemon without the use of sour cream. Queso had a nice amount of spices and was not ruined by adding so much milk.
My daughter had the Arroz con Pollo and wife had Arroz con Camarones - both were excellent and nicely highlighted by the very flavorful Mexican rice. My carnitas were the best I've ever had - and I've had carnitas at probably over a hundred different restaurants. Plenty of spices, the excellent Mexican rice, thick and flavorful refried beans, and some really interesting pico de gallo.
I know they just opened this year- and they are off the main drag - but give it some time, and they will stay packed. Great prices - truly a...
Read moreCame in for a birthday lunch... I was hoping to find a diamond in the rough As a local for 25+years- the location has been under renovation for more than a year Driving up; I should have turned around & dealt w traffic to our usual True & Trusted Mex restaurant up on Win. Dunn. (This location does not have any alcohol currently- but we don't drink- so that was NOT an issue) Trash, towels, tossed outside near entrance. The greeter, waitress, server, busser, cleaner, and everything else in between was the SAME person, manning ALL tables - The 'men' stood around. The owner wouldn't even come by to introduce himself even after we asked to talk to him. Salsa was good, chips were warm and good. The visitorsnearbyy didn't eat their food -- paid for ot, then left. In the end- battle the traffic, after spending $50 for sharing 1 plate & 2 appetisers& 2 waters -- not impressed. Maybe when they work as a team & are cleaner- it may get better. I'm hoping so- 'cuz it's out of the main traffic congestion, and COULD ba a diamond -...
Read moreUs Texans can be pretty picky about Mexican food (and BBQ) but that's what the wife wanted for supper and I found this place very near where we were staying. It was highly rated and the pictures and prices all looked really good. We were impressed. Chips were good. Salsa was thin but had good flavor and was not too hot, but have a nice residual heat. The queso fundido was excellent. We had enchiladas, burritos and chimichangas. All were very good. The sauce over them was a pleasant surprise. The rice was fine and the refried beans were good. The young man serving us was excellent as well. He kept the glasses full and apologized (unnecessarily in our view, but thoughtful) that we had to wait a few minutes for them to make some more sweet tea, which was excellent by the way. The portion sizes were perfect and the prices were excellent. We will go back, if not this trip, every other trip we...
