We are done being disappointed here.
It’s never a good sign when at 7:30 on Friday night. You’re one of only three couples eating in the entire restaurant.
First, they apparently don’t do the nice bread selection with pub cheese. That was always a favorite, we asked for bread and got some hot rolls, but they were very basic. I ordered a glass of wine and it should’ve been a little sweet, but it was actually sour and a little off. I didn’t even complain but when the waitress came back and asked if I wanted another one, I said no I’m OK. 60 seconds later, she returned with another glass of wine, somehow miss hearing me. I didn’t make a big deal, but there wasn’t another six bucks. The first order we received was an uncooked oyster dish, and there were so many shards of oyster shell in them. We had to send them back after trying only one. I noticed many other reviews complaining about shell, shards and pieces in the Royster dishes. The waitress insisted on bringing us another different hors d’oeuvre, and we said reluctantly, OK, but it didn’t come out, until after our entrées were served, which was of no use, and we were still charged for them.
I inquired about the steak since it was the only interesting thing on the menu, which is sad, because usually they have many interesting things to choose from.
The waitress insisted that the Steak was very popular, and that it was great.
Upon receiving the steak, it was supposed to be 12 ounces, which this one was definitely not. It was about a quarter inch thick and very fatty with gristle on the edges.
The worst part is that I ordered a medium rare, and it came well done, which ruins, a steak, if you have a good night to start out with, which I’m not sure this was.
We ended up here because I insisted on coming since it was my turn to pick and we’ve had such good meals here, so I left embarrassed and very annoyed at spending $130 on a meal that neither one of us like where the food not taste good, it was small portions, and the service was not particularly nice, and actually caused errors that cost us money.
An ongoing problem here is the consistency or the food portions and preparation. We have had the same dish cone out with as much as 50% difference in entry portion sizes before and it happened again this night. As we were leaving I notice someone at the only other table in the restaurant had the same and it was easily Twice as large as the one I had just paid for.
Stringers may continue as a an elegant casual bar scene, but obviously the crowd has moved on to better, newer places that have opened in the past year, and that’s where you...
Read moreOur first experience was not the best but this restaurant has great potential with the right management in place. The restaurant itself is beautiful and very clean which is one thing I look for when going out to eat especially to a more high-end restaurant.
The first impression was the hostess definitely needs more training in greeting customers and knowing where to place them.
Secondly timing on drinks coming out ,food coming out etc. was definitely slow especially. Especially being that there was only three families in the whole restaurant and there was about 2 to 3 couples at the bar which I feel for this restaurant was very slow.
The appearance and presentation of the food was quality everything looked great the fried oysters were a bit salty for my liking would not order those again the dirty oysters were amazing along with the presentation. Our entrées were also delightful would definitely order again. The desserts would have to be our least favorite of the foods. Would consider trying different things on the menu next time we ordered the chocolate cake and the Apple crumble. The chocolate cake the raspberry drizzle takes over the actual taste of the cake and the oatmeal in the cookie crumble was very overpowering that’s all I could taste.
The mixed drinks were mediocre not my favorite probably won’t order again.
One of my biggest complaints would be that when you’re spending a couple hundred dollars on a dinner. And the restaurant to be a beautiful environment you would hope that the surrounding tables that leave you would be cleaned up at some point we were sat by two dirty tables that were never cleaned until the very end when we were getting ready to leave and pay our bill.
The restaurant was very slow as I stated before three families total in the whole restaurant I’m not sure the capacity that can be seated but I feel that the workers no matter if they’re paid to bus tables or not should be picking up the slack if the waitress is not able to clean the tables appearances is everything and that would be the biggest downfall as management not knowing how to manage your bussers and your hostess.
Our waitress was very delightful and sweet she was also knowledgeable gave great...
Read moreCame for an early dinner/happy hour buck a shuck with the family and it was great. Our server, Al (or Alan?), was amazing - handled some of our indecisiveness with patience, friendly to the baby (even brought her out a sippy cup!), and very fast to bring our special requests (extra lemons and horseradish for the oysters). The host sat us near the back which had no other diners near us and plenty of space for a high chair (read: perfect spot for a family trying to dine out with a baby).
We got 2 dozen oysters for the table - no complaints there. For appetizer, I shared a she crab bisque. When it was served, Al said “tell me when” - honestly thought it was olive oil but we said stop pretty quickly and Al kept on going for a bit after. We soon realized after the first spoonful that it was NOT olive oil but sherry wine. I think if it was more like a splash of sherry it would have been perfect but it just felt like eating a boozy bisque at that point. For uncultured diners like myself, I would love to be told what is going to be added.
For mains, I ordered a ordered kale & Napa salad with the catch of the day (salmon). I asked to go light on the dressing and it was perfect. Hubby got the Stringer burger cooked medium rare which was also delish. I realized for both dishes, it was very shiitake mushroom forward…but that’s just a personal preference of mine (don’t like the texture/flavor) - hubby gladly ate the ones I poked around to the side.
Of course we barely had any room left for dessert, but are you really in Florida if you don’t order key lime pie? No regrets - the slice was zingy with zest, perfectly sweet, and gone in seconds.
Will be back soon and looking forward to trying out...
