Chinatown Shelton — Restaurant in Shelton

I used to be a loyal customer of this restaurant for over 10 years, and I genuinely enjoyed dining here and recommending it to friends and family. Unfortunately, one experience completely changed that. I once found a piece of metal from one of those Scotch-Brite stainless steel sponges in my food. The shock and disappointment I felt in that moment were beyond words. Food safety is non-negotiable, and finding something like that in a meal is not only dangerous but unacceptable.

Since that incident, I have refused to return, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place to anyone. It’s incredibly disappointing to go from being a 10+ year loyal customer to feeling like I can no longer trust the restaurant to maintain basic hygiene and quality standards. I had hoped that management would take serious steps to prevent such occurrences, but my trust has been broken.

For anyone considering visiting, I would strongly advise caution. While the restaurant may have had good meals and service in the past, one major safety lapse like this overshadows everything else. Until they demonstrate real accountability and improved safety practices, I cannot recommend this...

What happened to this place? Original owners ran a far above the norm takeout restaurant. Food was ALWAYS top notch. This was my go to for many years. No more. Now horrific. Go elsewhere. So disappointing.

UPDATE January 2023...

I have ordered from Chinatown Shelton a few times recently, and I have been very surprised. The taste and quality seem to have improved considerably (not where it was years ago when they first moved here from Monroe, but much better overall).

I had replaced Chinatown Shelton with Little Chopsticks in the past, but now it seems both have switched places.

Little Chopsticks slid backwards, while Chinatown Shelton has improved. I have no clue as to how or why this happened - cooks, supply chain, different vendors, all play a part, I'm sure.

I just have been very encouraged by Chinatown Shelton recently, so I guess, I'm re-thinking my initial...

We've lived here for 2 yrs and have been pleased with the food we've ordered. However, we ordered dinner last Fri, and they were very busy. I was worried that perhaps the food would be rushed and not quality. We were blown away with the taste and quality! We ordered again for a family get together last night, which was a Wednesday. Again, the food was just amazing! Our daughter who lives closer to her usual Chinese takeout is going to switch...
