Fire & Ale — Restaurant in Sherman

Our party of four dined here Saturday evening, May 4th. Two of us ordered the special of the day, a small meatball sub with a red sauce and cheese, which came with fries. One ordered a hamburger and paid an extra 99 cents for blue cheese. The other ordered chili and a Guinness on tap. The restaurant was not crowded, but half an hour later, we were still waitng for our orders. After the manager was called over, three orders showed up. The subs were burned, the accompanying fries were barely warm and had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for all that time, and the meatballs and sauce were tasteless. The chili was cold and the 12-oz Guinness was overpriced. The hamburger came 10 minutes later and had been overcooked to the point that it was dry. The burger was tasteless and so was the blue cheese. The service was so poor, three of us decided to leave no tip. The burger eater was foiled in his attempt to not leave a tip when the waiter returned with bills only (shorting him 60 cents), saying the restaurant had no small change (even though 60 cents in change was laying on the table). ...

Came here last Friday 4/18/25 for a birthday (6 adults, 1 child). Our waitress was fine, however everybody got their food (minus the two orders of fries we had ordered) before the toddler and I got ours. 10 minutes after everyone had started eating, my toddler got her cheese pizza. Then the fries came out but not my food.

By the time I got my food, everyone had been done eating for at least 5-10 minutes. What complicated order must I have gotten for it to take so long, you may ask?

They at least comped the fries and the pizza but clearly the kitchen is missing something. People who arrived after us were getting pizza before me.

We had also requested a dessert for the birthday person but got tired of waiting. Had to track someone down to pay and left.

If you don't have at least 1.5 hours to kill just waiting, go to one of the other fantastic...

Place is good over all. It's been a mixed bag though when it comes to the staff. One time the hostess complained to me that she would actually have to clean off a table to seat me! I left rather than stay and listen to more of her issues. One waitress was great each time I was in. One bar tender never checked my credit card, which says SEE ID, to verify it was actually me using it. Food is good, drinks are cold and the help is lukewarm. The bartender tonight, while friendly, didn't tend bar that well. People had to wait for service while she talked to friends. Not the best way to serve your customers! Meal was delivered without the salad and then she had to run back and get it. Then asked if I needed silverware and condiments. Thankfully, both were already there, if not I'm sure it would've been a few conversations with friends before I would've...
