I heard so many nice things about this restaurant. Myself and my mother brought my grandmother and disabled aunt for their birthday. We noticed there were wads of hair on the napkins. We were trying to order things that were on the website and they didn’t have a lot of things anymore so it definitely needs an update on their menu. The waitress mentioned a few things that were not on the menu but said it was $30+ as if we were not fit to get something expensive. People that came in the restaurant after us got their appetizers and their meal before us. We had said something about us waiting 20 mins for ours and they said it goes by order. Which clearly it did not. My mom ordered mashed potatoes on the side and they were microwaved because they were hard, brown and boiled onto the plate. Not to mention they did not follow the covid 19 restrictions such as wearing masks properly or seating us away from other customers. I would also like to mention that prom kids came to the restaurant as well and a young beautiful lady had a pin to hold her dress in place and it had broken, the young handsome gentleman tried to help her put it back together and the waitress had a smart remark, “what are we doing guys? Getting naked back here or what?” The young lady then had explained what was happening and did not get an apology for the accusations that was made. And as far as the busser cleaning up the table after them, she accidentally broke a glass and cut herself. It happens, but she did not take care of her bleeding right away and bled over the table. I would say I am not coming here ever again until some things...

When I first arrived, I arrived late with my party. My initial reaction was that it looked very nice and clean. However, the rest of my party had a rude introduction by the elder man that "greeted" them at the door. According to them he was very passive and at first appeared to be a customer just wondering around, but they soon realized he was actually an employee. We sit down and the menu is highly priced, which at the time was expected due to the set atmosphere. However, my pulled pork sandwich was practically inedible. The barbecue was not all that great overall on it, and the way they cooked the bread left this bitter flavor. I subbed my french fries for onion rings. There were 3 huge onion rings that presented very well and looked amazing. However, the onion rings were subpar at best as well. On top of that, my Cherry Coke didn't taste like regular Cherry Coke. My grandmother and uncle each ordered prime rib sirloin expecting it to be very good for the price that they were paying for it. While my grandmother enjoyed it a little bit more than my uncle did, they both thought that it was still ok. It was just not very good at all. The bread rolls they originally served were also cold. That was made up when they served us with fresh bread rolls. This place is extremely overpriced for subpar at best food. Not impressed and I will not be returning. I did enjoy our lovely waitress though. She was very kind and alone has has moved my what was originally going to be a 1 star rating to a 3...

Just had Thanksgiving buffet today. The food was good for a buffet. There were no turkey slices like their picture showed on Facebook just small, almost shredded pieces. Somewhat disappointing but not a deal breaker. The service was horrible. The hostess pointed towards a table we could sit at even though it wasn't cleaned. We took it after waiting 20 minutes past our reservation. There were plenty of empty tables just none of them bussed. The two bussers that I saw were working their tails off. I only saw 1 server clean off a table as the rest walked by dirty tables empty handed. Our server took so long to come take our drink order that another server stepped in and helped. That was nice but I still had to get someone else to bring us our drinks after we were almost done eating. The drinks were 2 coffees and a coke. We got the coffees but not the coke. It was another 10 minutes before we got that and the ice was already melting, watering it down. Our real server finally showed up at the end of our meal to see if we needed anything else. I have been a server and have worked on holidays during a full service menu so I know it can be difficult and stressful but I've never seen so many slow, lazy people in a restaurant before. With the exception of the 2 bussers, I was not impressed at all. I was so disappointed that I'm writing my first ever review and will opt next year for all the fuss and mess and make...

Visited my brother in Kalamazoo and the kitchen in the long term rental is the smallest kitchen on the face of the earth. So we chose to drive 50 minutes southeast of downtown Kalamazoo, to have River Lake’s Thanksgiving buffet. Best decision ever. We talked about how great it was the entire time we ate and the entire drive back. The food was PHENOMENAL. What a wonderful well served event. HATS OFF to the chef and staff who CONTINUOUSLY restocked the buffet items and cleared empty plates and tables. Pictures aren’t great but they had everything holiday protein and enough side staples to satisfy anyone. Roast beef, Turkey and ham were moist, flavorful and wonderful. And of course, the mashed potatoes was a star of the show. Took all of me not to go back just for a plate of mashed potatoes and gravy.

First time here with the family for my birthday dinner. So glad I picked it! The menu is limited but everyone was pleased with what they ordered. Pineapple chicken was delicious, walleye was delicious, can't speak for the steak but it looked good. Ilma was our server and she was very wonderful. Gardens were so pretty and definitely lots of humingbirds! Can't wait to go back. And the salad bar! Lots of options for everyone. Desserts were top notch. The inside is decorated in an old vintage style, lots of cool things to see if you walk around. Overall very good experience which is hard to come by these days. Good job River Inn.

We ate here for Thanksgiving. The food was great! The accommodations were very tight where we were located. The restaurant is 1970s historical, or very dated. They could stand for a remodel, but still very nice and well kept.
