Atmosphere: ⭐⭐ (2 out of 5) This McDonald’s is located on South Pike Street in Shinnston and sits directly beside the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery—which is an odd backdrop when you’re trying to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The inside of the restaurant was disappointing: small, cramped, awkwardly laid out, and frankly dirty. It doesn’t feel like your typical dine-in McDonald’s—more like a drive-thru location that happens to have a few tables thrown in. Based on some of the poor reviews I’d read, I gave it a fair shot, but unfortunately, I found much of the criticism valid. The interior really needs some TLC, a serious deep clean, and maybe even a full refresh.
Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 out of 5) The service here was surprisingly good. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm “good morning” from the gentleman at the register, which sadly isn’t always the norm these days. He was friendly, efficient, and professional throughout the entire interaction. I had an issue with the McDonald’s app—my code for a free iced caramel coffee kept coming up as invalid—but he didn’t give me any trouble. He honored it anyway and gave me a courtesy coffee, which I really appreciated. I also ordered a bacon, egg & cheese McMuffin with folded egg (instead of the standard round egg), and he made sure the kitchen got it right. Service was quick, accurate, and above expectations for a fast food stop.
Food: ⭐⭐⭐ (3 out of 5) The food was solid but nothing extraordinary. My McMuffin was correct, came out hot, and was ready quickly. The iced caramel coffee was decent—not the best I’ve had, but good enough to start the day. Everything was edible and served its purpose, but nothing stood out as exceptional.
Final Thoughts: While the service was a bright spot and the food was acceptable, the overall atmosphere of this location is what brought the rating down. Between the location next to a cemetery and the unkempt dining area, this place feels neglected. With a bit of investment in cleanliness and interior updates, it could easily become a much...
Read moreShinnston WV is by far the worst McDonald’s I’ve ever been in. I’m from out of town and was in the area working. I stopped in twice in one week. 1st time I came in and used the restroom and the motion detect toilet would not flush and the walls looked like someone made an attempt to clean with dirty water. I told the staff about the toilet and they said ok. I ordered my food and 15 minutes later it was ready. The staff was very disorganized. The 2nd visit was 3 days later at 8 pm. I again used the restroom and the toilet would not flush. The walls had some kind of bubbly cleaner on them all the way to the ceiling and not wiped. I went out to make my order and the staff member taking my order looking at the keyboard and never looking up ask what I wanted to order. Never making eye contact. There was only three customer in the store all waiting for orders to go. Again no one looked like the knew what there jobs were. At one point a staff member making a coffee looked at me and laughed and shook her head. It took 22 minutes from me making the order till the time it was ready. When it was ready the staff member brought it to the front dropped it from a foot above the counter turned around and went back to being confused. I had to look in the bag to verify it was mine. Most of the staff had cell phones sticking out their back pockets and from time to time would pull them out and looked at them. Never rewatching hands or putting gloves on.I would never go back to this with all the problems I see on the front you know it’s got to be bad in the back as well. They give you that can’t trust what you can’t...
Read moreOrdered online to get from counter. I can see the restaurant from my sons driveway. I waited 15min before leaving his house. It was complete chaos, and the manager was staring at DT orders on the screen. As she asked, "Do we have this yet? Or that yet?. The young staff had no sense of urgency, and they seemed very overwhelmed...was a little busy, but not overly busy. Another customer, leaning on the wall by the counter, clearly disgruntled, sees my irratation due to not being acknowledged in the 5 min. I have been waiting. I then learn she is picking up a door dash she already had 10min into the dash when she arrived, about 20min prior. .. I waited another 10 min and finally here them start my order....35 min for an online order....this location really needs to get it together. But at least at this location you can get a milkshake 9 times out of 10. .....this is the worst visit i have experienced there. Other than that visit, orders have been pretty timely, correct, mostly fresh, staff seems friendly. And i dont see any substance abusers, ( or whatever that other review called them) hanging around the parking lot, walking around the cars. I think she was thinking of the McDonalds on Pike St. In Clarksburg ... there is bunch of "special" hanging out...
