Bamboo House Restaurant — Restaurant in Shiprock Agency

5/14/21: MUCH better than my previous visit. Appears to be under new management. Covid causes all meals to be cooked to order, which removes one of my biggest complaints about the previous management - seemingly complete disregard for food safety on the buffet. Very tasty Kung Bao Chicken. HUGE portion - would feed two. The vegetables are still a little weird but i can live with that. 9/20: Had the Szechuan pork. No trace of ANY Chinese vegetables on the plate (IMO should have water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, and a generous portion of pickled Szechuan vegetable, and maybe some fermented black bean). No trace of ANY Chinese spice (IMO should have five spice, hoisin sauce, and vegetable and bean mentioned above.) Not even a little bit spicy. Egg rolls beat most local places as usual. A bit cleaner up front than I remember from previous visits. Kung Pao chicken was pretty good on previous visits. I notice other comments like 'best Chinese in the four corners' -- have these reviewers never been to Cortez ? - 2 better Chinese rest. there. To Bloomfield ? (possibly best in the area). Or to Farmington? - 2 better Chinese restaurants there. Other reviewers say 'food is always hot and never greasy'. What restaurant are these folks eating in? (surely not Bamboo House, unless they work there or something). In several years I have NEVER seen buffet hot enough to meet food safety standards, and the egg rolls have always been pretty oily every time, but pretty tasty. WHERE is this other restaurant? -- I'd like to eat...

Food was delicious as usual. But the young native girl/lady was definitely the rudest person ever. For no apparent reason she decide to be rude to me, i came in with a great attitude but upon ordering she started in her mood swings. I asked why she was being rude to me, of course i got no response. So i informed the Asian lady behind the counter and she said she will take care of the situation which i hope she did. So this is the reason why severs in the restaurant industry wonder why people don't ever tip, this young lady was the fine example of that reason. So please if u expect a tip as a server at least be kind put on smile regardless of what kind of day your having. "IJS"...

Apart from the cockroach happily crawling around, the food wasn't awful. But I'll just say our entire party stopped eating once we saw our friend crawling next to our table. We came and ate after 1 pm and they were out of almost everything. It took only a little bit of time for the buffet to be replenished of what was out only for something else to run out. The waitress waiting on us seemed lost most of the time, and at one point we got our own drinks since she was taking too long.
