I recently held my wedding reception at the country club, and I would so very much like to give this establishment 5 stars. Unfortunately, I cannot due to the severe lack of communication and team-work we experienced during the planning process, as well as the weekend of the reception. I was in contact with Noreen, head of the restaurant/food and beverages for Pinetop Lakes. She was wonderful at first - willing to provide me with whatever I needed or wanted at our initial meeting. However, the minute we signed the contract and paid our deposit, things went to hell.
We were supposed to receive a packet in the mail (as told by Noreen herself) with a copy of our contract, details of our event as they were at that time, possible seating arrangements for the tables and dance floor, etc. WEEKS went by and we received nothing in the mail. After many phone calls to Noreen, both her cell and office, she had told me that the system was hacked and crashed and they lost everything, and ensured me that she would have the packet sent right away. Sympathizing with her, I waited patiently again for the packet. After TWO MONTHS, still had nothing. Family business brought me into town and I decided to ask for a copy of the contract in person. I showed up, she looked annoyed that I had interrupted her setting up for a luncheon, made a copy of the contract, gave it to me with very little in the way of politeness and went back to her work.
Skip ahead a couple of months later as I am planning the finer details of the event - seating chart, decorations, etc. I had called many times again, and emailed her, regarding the layouts of the tables I can choose from. She finally promised to get one to me. This never happened. She told me the 5 different types and dimensions of tables they had, leaving me to imagine how to arrange them myself, without knowing the layout and square footage of the room. I finished this a couple of weeks before the event and emailed a clear pdf of this layout.
The DAY OF THE RECEPTION, Noreen told my mother and I that her email had been down and provided me with her personal email - at this point I am panicking. I sent it to her, and she opened it while I had her on the phone and immediately told me that this seating chart would not fit in the room!!
My mother and my father (divorced and usually never did anything near each other), stopped getting ready for the ceremony to go personally oversee the set up for the reception. This caused my parents to not be in any photos and kept them from their set-up obligations for the ceremony. During the set-up, my mother received no helpful assistance from Noreen. No apology. Only resentment that continued on throughout the entire evening. The waitstaff, and the manager of the bar, were MOST helpful and seemed to take over, excluding Noreen from the majority of running things.
The entire year of planning left a horrible taste in my mouth, and panic attacks that my family will not forget any time soon. I refuse to visit the restaurant again, and cannot believe the level of unprofessionalism from Noreen. Please be wary of dealing with her if you are looking to plan any event here.
As a side, THANK YOU to the wait staff, the bartender, the manager of the bar, and everyone else who helped hold the entire thing together and keeping my mother and I from having to discuss anything with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a course I have played many times. Generally it is in good condition. Pace of play can vary but up through last year it was worth the 2 hour drive to play it. Unfortunately that is no longer the case
While the course was always a little pricey, if you played in the off season (spring or fall) or in the afternoon could get a reasonable deal. No longer. Played May 1 in the afternoon. Had the entire course to ourselves. Grass looked green but course had only been open a few weeks and ground still soggy from the winter. They charged $55 then added a nearly $20 cart fee for off season slow time of year. For that money there are better courses that are full length in Show low. It appears that Troon has picked this course up and the only thing they have done for the course is to charge more than this course is worth. They certainly didnāt add to customer service as the general manager ignored my message to the course
I am very disappointed because I used to drive up to play it 4-6 times a year. No longer. Silver creek is a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCustomer service needs work. We get up to Pinetop from the valley quite a few times a year to relax and play golf on our precious time off. The only reason I gave 3 stars because the course is always in great shape. The staff on the other hand can be very rude. I completely get sarcastic dry humor, but they can be condescending and make you feel unwelcome. My father and I had a rain check for 18 which we were grateful for, but when we went to use it they had to check the time of day of the rain check and date to check the price and it didnt say we paid for cart so they charged us a price adjustment and a cart. Thats just one example and we have plenty other. I get your the only public course in town, but the attitude...
