UPDATE 07/18/2025
They have a brand new menu and everything just about everything. I had done a review on they no longer have it looks like it’s all store ball and it is nasty. That’s my final thought! I can’t believe they changed it. The fish look like the cod patties that you buy at the store. The shrimp is not seasoned, they took away the roast beef. We will not be going back!

This is my second time eating at the Iron Skillet in Shreveport, and I have to say—this spot is a hidden gem. The food is absolutely amazing, and the service is just as impressive.
Food: Every dish I’ve tried so far has been seasoned to perfection. The pilaf rice is flavorful and cooked just right, the beef is fall-apart tender, and the catfish? Unmatched. I’ve also had the chicken fried steak, and it was delicious. The only thing I didn’t care for was the garlic bread—it was very strong on the garlic. Too much for me, but others who love bold garlic might enjoy it.
Service: Shoutout to Derek, the cook—he’s truly talented and takes pride in every plate. You can taste the love he puts into the food. David, our server, was friendly, professional, and attentive both times we’ve visited. The staff overall is on point.
Atmosphere: Even though it’s connected to a gas station and a casino, don’t let that fool you. This place is clean, comfortable, and worth the stop. It’s easy to miss, but once you eat here, you’ll be back. We were originally headed somewhere else, but it was too packed—so we came here again instead. Now we’ve decided Iron Skillet is our go-to spot.
Final Thoughts: This place is seriously overlooked. If you’re in the area or just passing through, don’t sleep on it. Support this business—you...
Read moreAfter 2 days of driving from Las Vegas, Nevada and being on the Chipmunk Diet of nuts and berries and yogurt at night with honey and nuts and berries I wanted solid food. I called my Grandson and he suggested I find a homemade food restaurant. I saw The Iron Skillet. Inasked if they had eat in available. Thank God, yes. I ordered a meat and cheese omelet with potatoes, whole grain toast with butter and coffee. My server was CJ (whose real name is Charmalaine Tenete). That's how she introduced herself. The Manager, calls her CJ. I noticed how efficient and caring she would take the orders and she treated old and new customers with a happy, bubbly personality. Checking up on everone, not missing a beat. She would sing in the kitchen sometimes. She truly enjoyed her job! And she is very good at it. I ate my breakfast, which was delicious. I ate that toast like I've never had toast before. She left a jar with coffe so I had a second cup. The decoration was Western cowboys and horses and country fishing. The Buffet area was not available. They maintained social distancing inside the Restaurant. When it was time to pay, I wrote a note to. CJ: "You make this place come alive. You got swag." I'll give you 5 Stars, I'm a Google Local Guide". She came back with the receipt and walking away saying: "I would like to thank the Academy, my parents, just hilarious. Then, I told her I wanted to take pictures of the restaurant and her Manager and her. She pointed me to the Manager, who was in a business meeting. I eent over there and explained my experience and that I wanted to do a good review with pictures. She loved it. So I took pictures of them and of the Restaurant. I had a great meal and a fun time. Most definetly will like to come back and visit again sometime. She made my day with her personality and great service. (Will add all the...
Read moreMy husband & I tried this place out of desperation which turned out to be a tremendous mistake. We walked in at 8PM, (they close at 9PM). We ordered sweet tea, placed our order & waited. They place was empty & they were already mopping the floors & had the metal "gate" up to block the entrance. The tea was sour & had turned. We told the waitress. She listed all the sodas they had but, I do not drink caffeine which I told her, & asked if she could make fresh tea. She said "No". I then asked if she could make a half pot of decaff coffee & she said they were "out of coffee". My husband bought a drink for me inside the store which I drank in the restaurant. He ordered a Coke but got Pepsi. I ordered cornbeef hash, well scrambled eggs & hashbrowns with two pancakes. My husband ordered a club sandwich. We received our food & I can honestly say, the grease & oil on my plate was bad enough I had to soak it up with three napkins. The hash was dried out, hard & tasted of old dated grease. The two eggs were cold & also tasted of grease. The travesty listed as "hashbrowns" were indescribable! They had so much oil & old grease that they literally slid across my plate onto the table. The pancakes were halfway decent once syrup was added. My husband's sandwich was flavorless with dried out meat, stale bread & wilted lettuce. All in all, they charged us 38 dollars for this "slop"! They were in such a hurry to clock out, they threw "whatever" on a plate & went no further then the waitress turned away 6 people at 8:30PM who were hungry & tired from traveling. The food was honestly disgusting & was left uneaten. They did not care nor did they ask if everything was ok. If you are considering this truck stop just because it has an Iron Skillet, please reconsider. To the folks who were turned away, thank your...
