COME UP THE MOUNTAIN FOR A WONDERFUL LUNCH IN AN INCOMPARABLE SETTING!
Only in my dreams would this cafe be open year around. HOURS: SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM & Only APRIL - NOVEMBER
When I first started hiking Mt. Wilson, this cafe had a very limited selection of food but this year the menu has expanded so much. Cosmic Cafe offers a variety of snacks and food. They have easy grab and go bags of chips to cooked delicious hot dogs and some of the best Sandwiches & PB&J's (after a killer hike or bike ride up it's all so delicious)
The Cafe is located in the pavilion overlooking the large parking lot at the entrance to the Observatory, they have a plenty of tables to relax and enjoy a meal or just cool down and relax. As you enjoy the top of the mountain FREE WiFi is now available (YAY!)
Staff is always amazing. They definitely make you feel welcomed and understand that hikers/runners/ and or bikers come Hangry (Hungry & Angry) LoL
You may also purchase great souvenirs at the cafe. They have selections from sweaters, tee shirts, patches, and more. Don't leave empty handed ;)
On my last visit the free water station was still closed, so make sure to bring cash or debt/credit to purchase water or anything else needed to refill.
Hope you have a great...
ย ย ย Read moreCosmic Cafe is open for business! You don't come up here for the food, but if you come up here for a small spontaneous get away at least there IS food. They have cold and drinks ๐ฅค๐งโ๐ต, ice cream ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ, baked goods ๐ช๐ง(pie!๐ฅง), Simple sandwiches like PB&J, ham, turkey and veggie ๐ฅช, hot dogs๐ญ, fruit ๐๐, and even greens salad. So, you'll be able to have something to hold you over for the next leg of the adventure. The staff here is very nice. The area is generally clean. The folks up here are all nice, something about the mountain air ๐. Ample parking below or at the lot above. There's plenty of picnic tables in the immediate area outside the cafe if you decide to bring your own goodies. The restroom was very clean as well. At the rear of the cafe is the meeting spot for tours and the hours are posted. Don't forget to pick up a daily parking pass at the bottom of HWY 2 at the gas station. Though I didn't see a ranger for the time I was there, the lot DOES have posted signs "All parked vehicles must display parking permit." Do it at your own risk, but it brings piece of mind that you don't have to come back to your car and find a $50 parking ticket๐๏ธ. It's a National Forest, chip in to keep it accessible and maintained for all! Cheers, enjoy your time at the...
ย ย ย Read moreGreat little stop at the top of Mt. Wilson, no matter if you hike to it, bike to it, or drive to it. They have simple sandwiches (turkey, ham, pbj, vegetarian), hot dogs, hummus, chili... which they run out of by around 1:30pm on cooler days, and there's muffins, pies... and of course coffee, teas, sodas. There are several picnic benches, where you can eat your food and enjoy the views and surroundings. They also have a stand set up that sells Mt. Wilson hoodies, tshirts, pins, stickers, etc. The prices at the Cafe aren't cheap... around $11 for a sandwich, but when you consider that it goes towards the upkeep of the Cafe and the observatory, it's not bad. From the Cafe, it's a 1/3 mile walk to some of the telescopes, thru which you can look at no charge. I very much enjoy being up there, you feel like you're on top of the world. FYI...Cosmic Cafe is only open on Saturdays and Sundays and is closed over the...
