I finally made it out to the Lubbock area and got to meet Isaac and Ashley Arellano, the incredible couple who run Pitforks and Smokerings BBQ in Slaton. Holy cow I was blown away by both their kindness and hospitality as well as their incredible food! I was in heaven with every delicious bite of smoked meat and each side. They really took great care of me - well beyond what I could have dreamed of. I got to try the moist and lean brisket - fabulous bark, great flavor and perfectly-rendered fat - everything you could hope for in brisket. The pork spareribs were immaculate. The brisket burnt ends were absolutely ridiculous! And the icing on the cake was the pile of fajitas! OMG they were otherworldly! The sides that I got to try were equally stunning. I could have eaten the brisket mac-n-cheese all day long. The potato salad was exceptional. And the fried cabbage blew my mind. Everything about the experience was next-level. I sooooo wish that Slaton was a little closer to Houston so I could just pop over and enjoy their incredible food and amazing hospitality all the time. Next time I'm gonna get there on a Friday so I can enjoy their pork steaks, Or maybe Saturday - burger day! If you find yourself anywhere near Lubbock, you have got to go see Isaac and Ashley. They will take fantastic care of you. And tell 'em...

After recently watching the family's inspiring story on Texas Country Reporter, I was determined to stop by on my next trip to Dimmitt from San Antonio. I have passed by this place more times than I can count and never noticed it, mainly because it was usually midnight or later. I finally had my chance today and it was better than I anticipated. That's a lot to say considering I've eaten at so many BBQ locations in South Texas that are well known throughout the state. Make this your next stop, I promise you will not be disappointed! Their brisket may be the best I've had, hands down!!! Their brisket frito pie... wow! Issac and his wife, and the entire staff, all greet you with the traditional Texas hospitality that makes you feel really welcome and made my first experience here special. I wish the best of luck and continued success for this business... GOD BLESS TEXAS and the PITFORKS & SMOLDERINGS...

I was really surprised. You know that saying don't judge a book by its cover ? Well, let me tell you, I wasn't going to post anything about this place because then the crowds start to show up and it can make or break a small restaurant. But they were so darn good!! So, the burger topped with brisket, my son who is super picky, gave it a 4.5 out 5. I just gave him a side eye... lol. We tried the pulled pork , brisket, and pork ribs . Pulled pork and brisket were delicious. The ribs were super good . But had a bold pepper flavor that I think you will love or not. The same goes with the atmosphere. You will love it or not. The food was so good, just get it to go. Lol. Overall, my family will be back . There are no pictures because it looks like BBQ. BBQ is something that needs to be tasted to know. Next time, I will try the sausages and turkey.....

My friend who goes every weekend because she loves it so much brought me here and I was pleasantly surprised! I got the ribs and sausage with two sides, mac n chees and fried cabbage. I wasn't a huge fan of the mac n cheese being filled with brisket too but I think that's just my personal preference. The fried cabbage was yummy and crunchy without being overly slimy, it was also full of bacon and flavor. I paid $22 for my two meat two sides plate and went home with leftovers. My friend got the SMALL frito pie and look at the size of that in the picture! Definitely worth the trip. This place embodies what people mean when they talk about the amazing bbq places in Texas that are just little hole in the walls off of a highway. Also, I forgot to mention the AMAZING staff. I felt so welcome and they were very attentive and friendly. Loved it!

The first review I've written on Facebook ever. We were working at a site nearby and those running that place told us this one compared well to (beat) one of the 50 best BBQ joints just south of Lubbock I already tried. We drive to where it is but see no sign, just a defunct gas station with a double line of 8 cars each in the adjacent grass, cause its to go, covid season. The brisket and pork ribs rank as good as any I've had, a bit better than rated BBQ place down the highway. I hunt these places down and was shocked how good a place could be that wasn't rated, though it will be. The sign in the window requires getting out of the car and coming around a partition to see. But man was this BBQ good & worth finding.
