7/3/25 EDIT. Went back after ownership changed and had a really good, juicy, wagyu burger. I recommended people give Redpoint another chance. Well, tonight I went back and the burger was again overcooked. I brought it back (I live around the corner and was there to pick it up 5 minutes before it was ready, so it didn't overcook waiting for me) and they cooked me another. When I got it home I noticed the fries weren't as limp as the first batch, but when I broke off a piece of the burger, it was overcooked. I then cut it in half, and it was overcooked throughout. I ordered medium, and the second time I confirmed that their idea of medium meant a pink burger. There was no pink, and the burger was dry. While I did not inspect the first patty, the second one was perfectly round and flat, it looked just like the preformed frozen patties you get at the grocery store. I would have brought the second burger back, but it was ( by now) after closing . I did eat one pickle and the bacon, which was crisp but not burned. Perhaps I will take the burger back tomorrow. $28 later I am still hungryđą
Original review: Three burgers on different occasions were severely overcooked as was the bacon (burnt) the was part of the burger as well as the bloody Mary (which was otherwise quite good ) The menu is incongruous with what one would expect at a taphouse. It seems as though the menu planner did not know who its audience was, or was trying to attract a different crowd, but failed to take note of the atmosphere. Eggs Benedict is an all time favorite of mine, and while the hollandaise was spot on, the crab and biscuit substitutions were not welcome - the dish had an extremely "heavy" effect. Service is slow if you aren't a young male the server or bartender are playing up to. I was super excited to move within walking distance (across the street!) but was disappointed each time I ate there , so much so that I no longer bother. The Taphouse could be a great little spot, but I've heard from others that the menu options are out of place and keep them...
Read moreThis place is very small. 7 seats inside (not including a small bar). Two seats are directly under the kitchen window, one booth is by the bathroom door, and the other booth is by the door to the outside patio.
If you're coming here for their craft beer, don't. Not good at all. Tried two. Both were bad.
We started with the ham biscuit board after being told they were out of about 5 things (I think they were out of everything on the apps except one thing (fries). The biscuits were REALLY done and almost burnt. The ham, jam, pickles, and honey were good. The pimento cheese had no flavor.
I got the fried chicken sandwich with pimento cheese. The chicken was not seasoned with anything and had zero flavor. My bun was burnt on the inside. The pimento cheese still had no flavor. Fries were good. Had to ask for ketchup as there were NO condiments on the tables, not even salt or pepper.
My husband got the pork belly, which he said was not good but that the grit cakes were decent.
We were also charged a City of Smithfield tax?? We've never seen that before. We basically got double taxed (about $9 extra dollars).
We went to Warf Hill afterward, and no such tax was on our bill.
The waitress was nice and so was the guy behind the bar but we won't be coming back. We were really pumped to try this place and very disappointed...
Read moreHad a great experience here! We ordered the crab dip, blue cheese burger, and I got the burger of the day (grilled onion and cheese on brioche toast).
The crab dip was good and the green onion on top added some nice freshness to the dish. The two burgers were very filling! Seriously yaâll, my husband and I couldâve shared one burger between two of us. They ask you how you would like your burger cooked (medium, well done, etc). The sea salt on the fresh made fries were a nice touch! The house made steak sauce was probably my favorite sauce they had (besides from ketchup and sriracha Tabasco hot sauce). The steak sauce has a good amount of savoriness and tanginess to make you want more.
Unfortunately, they didnât have many of the beer available for purchase. We ended up getting the pumpkin beer, which had a pumpkin-spice hint and a crisp finish. My husband usually doesnât like pumpkin-beer, but he loved it and said it was his favorite pumpkin beer he ever had.
Service was phenomenal! Our waitress Aubrey is sweet and made sure we were good!
The cons were the amount of flies we had while trying to eat our food. The restaurant is also very small and cramped. Large gathering would be tough to manage, unless you...
