As someone who lives near Captains have havenât left a review before. But I thought it was necessary today. I have had many items and all were great. Today I had the Taco Tuesday Special. I hadnât had it before and I came in at noon to try it. First let me say they were packed with customers so I ordered mine to go. Captains is a small country store that serves food. Good food and good country people service. Kind people I must add. While there a women decide to complain. She thought she had waited to long and wanted her party of 3 moneys back. She felt other were served ahead of her as they were regulars. I can assure anyone that doesnât happen they serve in the order they come in. After airing the complaint the owner offered drinks which wasnât good enough for them. So the had money given back. Which did bother me as they had there food and sat down and ate it at the Store. Didnât hear a word of complaint of what they ate but that they wouldnât come back again happy with the food but not with the time they thought it took. 3 grumpy old â/// trying to ruin the atmosphere of the store. Captains is a happy place to go. You canât find one much better and the service is excellent. It is a small town vibe and if you like to try new spots this is a great place to go. While you are there you should try the old time Ice Cream parlor across from it. Hours for the parlor are limited but if you catch it open it might bring back some childhood memories. Oh and the Taco was a great mix different then those from a place like Taco Bell. They tend to put an original theist on most of the and pastries made there. Not...
Read moreThis place is a really unique experience. A combination of a gas station, convenience store specializing in camping and fishing tackle and a restaurant. My wife got a burger, my kid got the cheese steak and I got the fish sandwich and we split some fries and onion straws. The burger and the cheese steak were excellent and so were the fries.
My fish sandwich was amazing. Served on a 6" bun with lettuce and tarter sauce. What was amazing was that the piece of fish was roughly 14" long and was hanging off the bun 4" on either side and it was hot and fresh on the inside and crisp and flakey on the outside. I ended up asking for extra tarter sauce and ate the ends with a knife and a fork before picking up the rest of the sandwich.
But the onion straws were really the big hit. They were crisp and flavorful and luckily it was a nice size serving so there were plenty for the three of us.
Sorry about the lack of photos, but the second the food hit the table we dug in. I'll grab some next time I'm there, and since it was so good the first time I don't think that...
Read moreI love it! It fits Paradise perfectly. It's a cute quaint country store in Paradise. Just stop in and see for yourself. It is clean and the people are friendly.
I moved to the area from KC and have lived in the area almost 20 years. I have frequented the store and have never once found anyone to be unfriendly or the store to be unclean.
I stop in now and then just for a soda or a scoop of ice cream. The biscuits and gravy are good too. I've heard from the co-workers that have made a trip on their lunch hour that the cheeseburgers are wonderful.
I disagree that the store should be open 24/7. Don't people the right to have lives? We are always in such a I NEED-RIGHT NOW mode. People should be able to close their store and go home to their own lives at a decent hour.
I would suggest being prepared before camping. The camp site has most amenities when you fall short. Otherwise, use a smart phone to locate the nearest place open when in dire straits for your stuff then call first to verify they are indeed open.
Paradise is a great...
