I went to El Mexicano Grill with 8 other people. We all ordered different plates. The staff was fast and very nice. We were seated immediately. The salsa was very tasty with a bit of a bite. The chips were fresh, warm, and thin. I absolutely love the thin chips at restaurants. All of my friends commented that they wish they could find some like that in the stores. The horchata was delicious!! The tea was excellent according to my friends. All of the food came out very quickly, hot, and together. The portions of food on EVERY plate were QUITE LARGE. Almost every person ended up taking some food to go off of their plates because they could not finish all of it. (4 of my people are large men that can eat quite a bit). The beef fajita is absolutely delicious. I had the beef fajita quesadilla (not the plate with rice and beans). It was full of warm melted cheddar cheese and beef fajita on a delicious tortilla. I'm not sure if it was a homemade tortilla, but it sure tasted like one! It came with pico de gallo and guacamole on the side. My friends also had mixtures of chicken fajita, shrimp, menudo, chili con queso, ground beef tacos, enchiladas, etc. Everyone commented on how good the food was. You can't go wrong with this restaurant. The prices were very reasonable. A dinner plate and drink with chips and salsa was an average of around $20 per person. Don't forget to tip...
Read moreOrdered over the phone (2x Migas a la Mexicana) while viewing their online menu and the price of the item when I went to the store was $3 more per plate. False advertising earns 1 star reviews. I shouldn't have to come in store to get accurate pricing when you have a menu online.
Update upon arriving home and eating: shockingly small portions for the price. My husband (and I) are 98% certain our plates were microwaved to melt the disgusting amount of cheese as his cheese is burned around the edges and his plate is warped AF. Very bland. Very little peppers/onions inside the migas, at first I didn't even think there was any until I scraped the hardened cheese off. And only two tortillas came with each.
Added on a medium chips and salsa at the restaurant and was shocked at the $30 total for only two people to eat, which is when I grabbed a menu off the counter to check pricing. Salsa is decent but you can't even taste anything due to the heat after the first chip. It's probably bland, like the food, without all the heat in it.
This was our third attempt to like this place and we won't be making a fourth mistake. Highly recommend La Cabana right down 71 heading to Bastrop - they have way better 1) prices 2) portions and 3) flavor. Too bad they don't open for breakfast though or I would have spent my $30 there getting something that looks edible and...
Read moreI know that these are trying times, but I will never go back to this restaurant! I gave 2 stars only because it was obvious that they were trying to adjust to the new Coronavvirus safety guidelines. I was really hungry, so I ordered a cheese enchilada/crispy taco combo. Then, since their menu featured "breakfast served all day long" I also ordered a buisquit and gravy. When did enchiladas start using flour tortillas? And I vknow it it it was late in the day, but the biscuits were ROCKS!! Even after soaking in the gravy and using my home stainless steel forkvand knife, they were impossible to break.up. I would much better have them tell me that their breakfast items weren't fresh. My money is dear to me, since I am in a fixed income. My bill came wrapped and sealed for $16.22. And I added a tip. Basically, I blew $20 for a very inferior meal. Never...
