Al & Mick's Barbeque — Restaurant in Snead

I have eaten here more times than I can count. Its hit or miss it seems like. I've had great service a couple times and great food if you get your correct order. But I believe today done it in for me.

I am not exaggerating.

We received our drinks fairly quickly, about 15 minutes after we sat down. The place was pretty crowded. So that wasn't that bad. But about 20 minutes later my glass was empty. It took another 20 minutes to get a refil. Waitress no where to be found.

I ordered a appetizer, loaded fries. Fries, Cheese, Pulled pork, Jalapenos. Phenomenal food! It took 1 hour and 15 minutes to receive this appetizer. At this time, it was thinned out a little.

Add another 30 minutes, we received our entrees. My order was correct. Large hamburger, no onions. My wife ordered a regular cheese burger, no onions. It was incorrect. Normally it's not an issue, but she shares her entree with our one year old daughter. We didn't want to sit there another 30 minutes so she just picked them off. No biggie.

Another couple that we were with odered a large cheese burger with no onions. It was incorrect. The second entree was grilled chicken fingers. It was incorrect. They brought out fried chicken fingers. At this point, we were ready to just eat and get out of there after 1 hour and 45 minutes waiting on our food. By the time the order was corrected and brought back. She had to go to the car and breast feed her infant child. We got a to go box, paid, and left. She didn't get to eat until she got home.

After we left my wife asked how much was the receipt. I told her and she said that was wrong. I overpaid $8. Which I can blame myself for not paying attention and trying to get out of there. I call them and I turn around and they have an envelope waiting with my money in It.

All in all, I will not go back after the experience we had today. I gave 2 stars because the food is good. I normally don't complain. I hate that it has...

Within 1 minute of being seated, an EXTREMELY LOUD noise was heard inside the restaurant. This noise continued while we ordered and we were told it was the vacuum being used upstairs. No action was taken to address our complaint but instead we were told it would stop soon. Our order was taken, and drinks were delivered quickly, but we were the only customers at the time. The noise continued to the point my wife had to step outside to escape the ear-splitting racket. After about 20 minutes, and just before our food arrived, the whining vacuum was finally silent. The food (a large pork plate with coleslaw and onion rings for me, a regular pork sandwich for her) looked good at first glance, but neither of us finished our meal, and here's why. The sandwich my wife had was soggy with grease from the pork on it. My pork was also extremely greasy, but what I was able to stand had a good smoky flavor. Unfortunately, the sauce provided tasted exactly like Kraft Original straight from the bottle. Also, the onion rings were too greasy and the onions inside were quite tough and hard to chew. plus, I had to ask that the coleslaw be brought because it didn't come with the rest of the food. If it had been enjoyable, the price would have made the meal a good value, but, we probably wouldn't have been happy even if they had offered to say "No Charge" when we complained to the shift manager. That DIDN'T happen,so, I guarantee that we won't be customers...

My wife would pass this place everything we went to and came from Gadsden. It was our landmark to turn off onto a short cut to go back and forth. One evening we decided to go there. Glad we did. Very Cabin-in-the-woods atmosphere. As we walk in I saw right away that the dining room was a little small but it did accommodate the tables and booths pretty well. There is also a stair case that went straight up to a second dining area. We were greeted and seated right away and only a few minutes later was our server back around to take our order. My wife ordered the pork salad and I chose the Barbeque chicken and Pork platter with fries and side salad and blue cheese dressing. Within minutes they were placed on the table and it was a short time after our meal arrived. It took up the entire table space to hold it all. Everything on my plate was assembled nicely and utilized the space efficiently. The food was fantastic. My wifes salad was crisp and fresh with a delicious pig relaxing in the greens. Great Barbeque both poultry and pig. The fries reminded me of actually being at the lake with family and friends. The portions are enough to be able to satisfy your dining there with a whole other meal to eat later.. The end ticket was very reasonable. I highly recommend...
