I had read about this place online somewhere and added it to our road trip. I was very hesitant when we pulled up. It had just snowed and I wasn't even sure it was open plus it's very run down on the outside. But, we drove all this way so, in we went. I can tell you, it was totally worth the stop! My husband ordered a burrito of some sort and it was massive. I ordered huevos rancheros and told him I like spicy. I had the BEST jalapeño hash browns ever. Well, the best hash browns period. It's one of those things years from now where I won't remember the name of the town or even the restaurant, but those hash browns will never be forgotten. My daughter ordered chocolate chip pancakes and what was placed in front of her were the cutest thick, heart shaped pancakes with white chocolate chips. They were SO good! She does prefer milk chocolate chips but she didn't complain. Oh, and did I mention they were green and white? We're eating our leftovers for dinner. ;) This is not a quick in and out so budget your time accordingly but expect fresh delicious food. And feel free to order what you want, you're not constrained by the menu! The owners are very friendly, ready to serve you with a warm smile and a big, Texas...
Read moreSo, I had seen this restaurant a few times on various Texas themed television programs. Always stating that if you are ever in Snyder Texas this is a must go! Trust me it is in a part of Texas that is not highly populated. I never thought I would just happen to drive through there! But on a road trip to Cali my wife, daughter and I made it a must stop! There was food for days with each order we had! They intend on giving you more then you paid for! They also had many choices other than Tex-Mex. I went for the Enchilada Dinner and was only able to eat about 1/2 of what was served before I was full. The people that run the place were very small Texas town friendly and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. The places was kind of small and not many modern updates or fancy decorations. It was perfect for what it is and has been all these years! So, if you ever find yourself in Snyder Texas, this is most certainly...
Read moreFinding Ponderosa can be a little confusing as it seems to be part of the motel and its not the prettiest place, but once you get past that you'll love it. The door is kind of off to the right if youre facing the motel from the opposite side of the highway and it has metal bars. Weve been several times, ordered Mexican and breakfast dishes, and its always good.
The cook (maybe the owner?) is warm and friendly and really seems to enjoy his work. He genuinely wants his customers to love their food whatever their request. He will make your food however you want it without question even if its not on the menu which has a lot of variety. All of this makes Ponderosa a special place in my book. It is by far the best place to eat in Snyder. The portions are LARGE, but quality could be improved upon for some dishes especially meat, but you always get your moneys worth here. Highly recommend...
