I do not recommend this place due to the incredibly rude, hot head restaurant owner. My apologies for this incredibly long review, but we had a really bad experience at this place and we never even made it into the restaurant. Here’s the backstory…My dad and I decided to spend the day fishing on Lake Leelanau. We wanted to launch the boat on the east side of the lake at the launch next to Paradise Cove, so we could enjoy some lunch there when we were done fishing. We’ve never launched a boat at this launch before, and the extremely limited trailer parking situation isn’t entirely clear. Long story short, we screwed up and apparently parked the boat trailer and truck somewhere we shouldn’t have. My dad honestly thought he was parking in the best place available to avoid blocking any driveways, the road, other boaters, etc. When we arrived back to the boat launch, we were barely out of the boat, the owner of the restaurant stormed out to the boat launch, approached my 73-year-old dad and aggressively told him he must immediately move the truck and trailer. He angrily told us we weren’t allowed to park in the only place that seemed, from our perspective, to make any sense. My dad apologized and instantly went to move his trailer. At that moment, instead of offering up some useful information about where we were “allowed” to park, the restaurant owner proceeded to try and belittle my dad further. I couldn’t believe how nasty and rude this guy was treating my dad. His reaction to this situation was completely overblown. Needless to say, we didn’t have lunch at Paradise Cove and we never will again. We will never take family or friends to Paradise Cove and we will never recommend the place to tourists or co-workers etc. So, BRAVO 👏 Paradise Cove Bar and Grill owner…you managed to run off two potential repeat customers. Bummer, it’s so close to where we live…oh well, I keep hearing the place isn’t what it used to be after these new owners took over anyway. Helpful hint to those who decide to try your luck: If you’re using the boat ramp, do not park your trailer on the grass at the very edge of the campground, you might get rolled by the restaurant owner upon your return 😳. However, now, there is probably an extremely obnoxious WARNING that you won’t be able to miss. Good luck maneuvering your boat around this...
Read moreDining experience was ok, server was very busy, but we understood since COVID has understaffed most restaurants. However, there were a few things that weren’t as understandable. The food runner bringing out orders just out stretches her arm to hand us food and I had a plate in my hand from the empty appetizer and was unaware that she was insistent that I take the plate instead on setting it down in front of me like at most restaurants and then she said it was because of COVID and further stated that yes COVID was still around. It was an unnecessary statement with a rude demeanor. The waitress had brought me the wrong meal, chicken tacos, instead of fish tacos. There were so many toppings on the tacos I couldn’t tell until I ate one that I was given the wrong food. I did opt to have the waitress bring me the correct order. When we got our bill she had charged me for 1/2 the price of the chicken tacos, $6.50 custom charge, plus the cost of the fish tacos that I ordered! The nerve, to screw up and then charge us for it. The wife owner did ultimately take off the custom charge. The husband owner was very friendly and helped dock our boat when we arrived. Decent food and atmosphere, but nickel and diming people that come to eat here is a mistake. Charging $.50 for a extra side of ranch dressing for a large Cobb salad, not necessary. My husband and I shared 3 full meals between us, so we weren’t trying to get off cheap. I was upset when we...
Read moreAn extremely rude lady who was serving. I was meeting some people at the tiki bar and was just going to carry my bike over to the pontoon boat my friend have parked at the dock. We had a big group here having lunch and drinks for a couple of hours yesterday, spending a few hundred dollars. I was interested in getting lunch and some food here, but got told multiple times to leave the property because it is a “private land”. I appreciate that you may own the bar/restaurant and I am a customer wanting to spend real money at your establishment. Perhaps she thought because I was wearing the bike gear I had no money? As I wanted to take the bike (by hand, light, no issues to any customers) to the pontoon parked up at the dock out the front, she went to me and told me to leave again. My friend was actually already drinking his second drink, again a paying (!!!) customer. This completely made me not interested in eating here or having any drinks, and I was willing to spend real money here and had some items picked off the menu. Too bad, pretty disappointing. Rude servers.
Unable to judge the food as did not have any, but my group from yesterday did have a good time. So perhaps this was an off day for the establishment/this particular employee. The vibe was kinda fun, being on the lake, but I didn’t really get to enjoy it as the whole experience was spoilt.
I won’t be...
