Where to start. Food is mediocre at best, and that's being generous. If you are looking for good authentic Mexican food, this is NOT the place. Salsa didn't have much flavor, just a hint of cumin and black pepper. Chipotle ranch dip was decent. I had chimichangas and my husband had the texas fajitas. The chimichangas were more like enchiladas than a chimichanga. Weren't even wrapped up like a burrito much less deep fried. The sauce was described in the menu as a red burrito sauce, but that was unlike any red sauce I have ever had and I have lived in Texas and visited the southwest US. It tasted more like apple butter than anything else. There was nothing Mexican about the flavoring at all. The guacamole on the salad wasn't even mixed up well; one bite would be only avocado and the next would be a mouthful of cilantro. There wasn't even any cilantro in the salsa. Rice was bland as well.
Now to the fajitas. Shrimp was tougher than a Goodyear tire. There was barely enough meat, veggies, and beans to make two small tortillas and it didn't even fill them. Oh but they were generous enough to give you three tortillas! You didn't even get rice with an order of fajitas. His guacamole salad had about a pea-sized dollop of guacamole on it. The refried beans were canned but still managed to have more flavor than anything else we had tonight.
Now on to the service. We were seated right away and the hostess and waitress who checked us out were nice and polite. However, the rest of the service was not good, not the worst I've ever had but definitely down there. Most Mexican restaurants give you chips and salsa almost the second you sit down but we didn't get any chips for about 5 minutes and it was another 5 minutes before we got any salsa. Drinks were brought and order placed in a somewhat timely manner. The waitress brought my husband a refill before our food came and brought me one shortly after our food came then never came back to our table. We could see her waiting on other tables but never even came close enough to our for us to try to flag her down. The rest of the waitstaff were only focused on their own tables and were not observant enough to realize that our table was no longer being waited on. We needed more refills, a box for my leftovers, and the check (the waitstaff brought the bill and you paid at the front). We waited about 15 minutes after we finished eating, which was about 30 minutes after we last saw our waitress, and never got any of those things. We ended up just getting up and going to the front to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I have been in search of GOOD Mexican restaurant, having recently moved here from Southern California, where there is authentic Mexican food. Unfortunately we will not be returning here, not only was the food substandard, but the service as well. We stopped in for lunch and there lunch rush was checking out. We waited for about 10 minutes for people to pay theirs bills before we were seated. One older woman came and took our order after a brief wait and that was the last we was of her. A nice young gal brought our drinks, I had water and my husband tried a margarita which he said tasted like lemonade. Our order took much longer than expected for typical Mexican orders, in fact the table next to us got their food first, but ordered after us! My husband ordered the stuffed poblano lunch special (we learned real fast that Chileās Rellenos are totally different here), I ordered the flautas lunch special. I thought but we awful, I have no idea what cheese they used in the poblano, but some orange stuff and more on top and the flautas were dry and had no flavor. The woman who took our order did not bring our food out, the busy boy did. The same young gal that brought us our drinks asked once if everything was ok. We never interact with the woman took our order again, yet she waited on the tables on either side of us.
We waited about 10 minutes to get our bill and noticed I had ordered all beans, no rice and my husband had order the opposite all rice, no beans. There was a charge for mine $1.50 and no charge for my husband. I brought it to the attention the woman at the cash register and she said oh yes, we have had a problem with our system, Iāll take it off. Hmmmm, makes me wonder how many never check their bill and are over charged.
So sorry Blue Tolok will not return. So sad for all of you that think their food is good, I guess ess you have never tasted REAL Mexican food.
Hoping to find a Mexican restaurant that serves hand fried taco shells with shredded beef. So for now Iāll stick to making my own as they are way better than any Iāve...
