Food was decent. The Ahi Tuna appetizer was great. My fiance's entree was good. The salads were good. Restaurant atmosphere is good with a great view of the lake. Our server was nice and attentive. Food came out in a prompt manner. My only problem was the manager walked by every table in the restaurant and spoke to every table except ours. She actually walked by us four times actually bumping into our table but never once said excuse me, or high so glad you came to Break on the Lake, my name is ????? and I am the manager. How is your meal going so far? Everything great? She is African American so I would say she was being racist but everyone else in the building at that point was caucasian. I'm not sure what the problem was. Maybe we were overdressed? I had a nice black dress on with leopard print heels and my fiance had on a nice shirt with jeans. Guess we will never know the answer but I found it rude and unprofessional. We left the sever a 20% tip on ab $80 check.

I'm going to edit this review so I can reply to the owner. In answer to your question as to whether or not I would make a comment about your male manager being caucasian and being racist if I noticed he was purposely ignoring a table because of their color or the way they were dressed... yes I absolutely would. I'm sorry if I felt like we were being purposely ignored by your MOD at that time.

The facts stand that she went by our table and bumped into it not once but four times yet not one word of recognition whatsoever? I have been in restaurant management so I know all about the figure 8 and engaging with guests. I'm not saying she isn't a great manager. I'm sure that she is. The color of ones skin does not determine their intelligence or professionalism. I don't think my comment was out of line at all. I didn't say that she was being racist but I did say that if the entire restaurant hadn't been filled with predominantly caucasian people maybe I would have thought that. The reason I made reference to the type clothing we had on is because everyone else there was dressed in a more casual manner. I'm thinking that maybe the reason she was by passing our table is because she was talking to regular customers.

We are not from SC and was only in your area visiting. I guess it's not important to make out of state guests feel welcome since we would have no bearing at all on expanding your business? Have you ever heard of that old adage "Word of mouth"? While our server was very nice and attentive and your food runners were very hospitable and efficient the fact still remains that your food is mediocre not fantastic. I'm sorry, I travel to many places and I have had much better. My rating will stand at a 3 but I do appreciate your recommendation for me to change my, emphasis on the word "my" opinion? That sir is what reviews are for. If you don't want reviews then opt out of doing them through Google. You can't always get great reviews that's business and life. Everyone has different...

Kevin, I've actually been there several times since you've opened, never having a great experiance honestly. My family has a lake house on Greenwood and I usually come with friends from the area like Matt M, Gary H, John B, Monica D, Echo and others. The first 2 years open no matter if it was lunch or dinner the wait times were ridiculous, sometimes waiting over 2 hours to be seated then another hour to get food. Theres been times ordering food, then after waiting on it the waitress come out and say I'm sorry but we've sold out of that. This past summer wasnt as bad as far as wait times to be seated, only to have to wait to be served cause of a lack of staff from what I was told by our waitress. The food is good and all, prices are a little higher than most restaurants I can go to in Greenville, Spartanburg or in Greenwood, but of course they aren't on the lake. Not knocking the place its a good place to hang out, good food once you get it and drink with friends, but with so many waiting on tables the bars inside and out are usually so pack the wait time to get a drink can be 15 minutes or more. If not for my experances with wait times and the 3 times that I remember being told you were sold out of what I ordered I'd give you 5 stars, but I'm just being honest in my review. But I'm sure I'll be back around next summer, i just may grab a burger or hotdog from the tent outside tho, i have limited weekends off to enjoy my time at the lake and don't want to waist 3...

Horribly lacking. Well, I have never visited a restaurant that gave you absolutely nothing as a side with a $29.00 steak or even with a $15.00 sandwich! One of the diners at our table ordered their pork stack, (mind you we were there on a Thursday at the start of dinner hour), he was told 10 minutes later they were out of it so he selected a $16.00 Hamburger (small) steak and $3.50 mash potatoes and added a $6.00 side salad which was forgotten until mentioned again. Another diner ordered a Rueben sandwich and the additional $6.00 salad, which was missing the promised cheese that came out when the salad was nearly finished. Our third diner order a fish sandwich with hushpuppies. (The hushpuppies ere extremely over cooked, waited once more for the waitress to take it back for a successfully cooked order - several minutes later). Lastly, I ordered the french dip for $12.00 and a $3.50 baked potato. Needless to, say the waitress came back to report they were "out of" baked potatoes what else did I want to pay (extra) for? I chose nothing being pretty well fed-up by this time. My sandwich was overcooked - actually crispier roast beef. I thought the au jus would help but it tasted like a salt dispenser. We will not be returning and it was a great disappointment for the $80.00 + that was spent. Families can definitely not afford to waste time and money here. Pack a picnic for the lake or try a different place I guess. It would be a great place to open...

There's really not words that can express how great this place is but I'm going to give it my best shot. First of all, the building and location is gorgeous. I moved from Raleigh and coming over the lake I was greeted by their beautiful building and thought to myself that I needed to come try them out. After finally getting into my house I took my family up for dinner. I was blown away. The service, the food, the atmosphere, all of it was just amazing. I had the blackened flounder which was just perfect. My wife had the crab cakes, which were outstanding! My brother finished his meal with a blueberry cobbler cheesecake... you may be asking yourself, "why had nobody thought about that?" Yeah, me too. But it's amazing. If nothing else, go get that. Our Server was attentive, my drink never got close to empty, our food was prompt, and everyone was so courteous. I'm so thankful to live in a city that has a place like this, one that I'm genuinely excited to bring people to. I'm sorry about the pic, I wish I'd gotten a before but when that smell hit my nose I couldn't stop myself. You'll understand when you go.

I've had the pleasure of dining at Break on the Lake multiple times, and each visit has consistently left me impressed. Recently, I indulged in the sea scallops and shrimp cocktail, and they did not disappoint. The scallops were perfectly cooked, with a delicate sear on the outside and tender on the inside, while the shrimp cocktail was fresh and flavorful. But what truly sets Break on the Lake apart is its unbeatable atmosphere. Nestled right on Lake Greenwood, the views are stunning, providing a perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal. The value for this prime location is remarkable, making it a go-to spot for anyone looking to enjoy quality food with a view. The staff also deserves a mention—every time I've visited, they've been nothing short of excellent. Friendly, attentive, and always making sure your dining experience is top-notch. If you're in the area, Break on the Lake is definitely worth a visit. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or planning a leisurely meal by the water, you won't be disappointed.

Break on the Lake is a gem nestled on Lake Greenwood, and if you're a fan of culinary delights, this place is a must-visit! Let's start with the chef's masterpiece: the fried mac and cheese. Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside - it's like a love letter to comfort food aficionados. Now, onto the main event! We indulged in two separate dishes, each more mouthwatering than the last. First up, the country fried pork - tender, flavorful, and downright addictive. Then, the country fried chicken sandwich - crispy, juicy perfection between two buns. Both dishes were so good, they should come with a warning label: "May cause addiction!" And dessert? Don't even get me started on the blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. It's the kind of dessert that makes you believe in magic again. In conclusion, Break on the Lake isn't just a restaurant; it's a culinary journey where every dish is a destination worth savoring. So, pack your appetite and embark on a flavor-filled adventure - you won't regret it! 🍔🍰🍦
