Charlene's Home Cooking is the best restaurant for soul food, there is no other that can compete. I had delicious fish, mac and cheese (not dry nor floating), and fried green tomatoes, all of which needed no added seasoning and was perfectlycooked. Much love to the chef👨🏾‍🍳. NOW, I only eat potato salad made by my Auntie T; however, I tasted some that my mom bought, and it was almost as good as Auntie's so close I almost turned around to go purchase me some, and making me glad I don't live nearby( 2hr drive), or it might be a struggle for me as I am in the process of alternating what I eat and eating habits, this would be hard to stay away from. This was such a pleasant surprise. My sister, finding this highly rated, suggested we stop by. It was not a mistake. The food took me, and us, back to my mother‘s own cooking. She was present at this discovery today and agreed. Hush puppies, fried okra, black eyed peas, mash potatoes with gravy. I am new to the area, and if I remember correctly, I’ll be back on Monday’s for meat loaf (once I get settled).

This was our first time here. We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door. The food was amazing. We had the fried chicken dinner and the pork chops. The portions were plentiful. The owner, Charlene took our order and brought us our food. She even gave us a sample of fried ribs because we had never tried them before. Everyone was very friendly.
