Dock 97 — Restaurant in South Carolina

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My wife and I are locals and have been for about 5 years now. 1st experience on Friday 6/17/22- parking lot full- thinking , food has got to be excellent, heard from other patrons that food was excellent. Did not get to experience for ourselves. The gentleman awaiting in front of had been waiting approx. 20 minutes or so - as we discussed. Was informed by a very rude female wait staff that he could not order "take out" because they were too busy WOW. Who would have thought. The gentleman was shocked - to say say the least. While awaiting patiently - there were 3 tables open the entirety. My wife asked the same lady if we could sit - her response, not politely mind you "You cannot sit until we tell you to, we are too busy right now, you will just have to wait". WOW again. Could have been improved - "Do you mind waiting until we can seat you"? We would have waited. After approx. 25-30 minutes total wait time- WE LEFT and went across the bridge to the Beaver's Den- had a wonderful experience there. Would love to speak with the owner and let him know up front about the rudeness of his staff member and loss of business.

We’ve heard fantastic things about this place and always looked forward to trying it one day. Tonight, understandably around peak dinner time, we walked in and waited to be seated. When greeted, we asked for a table for 2 and were met with a frustrated gaze. The woman at the counter proceeded to tell us how overwhelmingly busy the restaurant was. That no wait time could be determined. Then she just stared at us with a “figure it out” expression and we awkwardly left the restaurant. Both my husband and I immediately felt unwanted. Now, please don’t get me wrong, I absolutely understand being so busy and overwhelmed you cannot take more on and you’re feeling stressed. I’m sorry we walked in at that exact time I guess. I simply have no desire to even try to eat here again. Sad day. Wouldn’t recommend if even the staff wants...
