We drove from Walhalla after church. We arrived just in time for the doors to be opened. Dyar's is what I would call a meat and three. They had a great selection of meats and sides to choose from, as well as deserts. All of the staff was so friendly and the service was excellent. I had chicken livers. Oh my, they were good. I also had mac n cheese, broccoli rice and cheese casserole, and slaw. I topped it off with some strawberry cake. My lunch was awesome. My wife got the baked chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, and strawberry cake. She said it was very good. My only thing, and it isn't a complaint, is that it costs $40, plus the tip. We both did have tea to drink. So, it just costs more to eat anywhere these days. It was really good food, though.

We swung by Dyar’s Diner last night after my son’s T-ball game to grab some supper—and let me tell you, the bird dogs were on point. This isn’t your average bird dog with a basic chicken strip and a slice of cheese. Nope—they chop up the chicken, mix in crispy bacon, sprinkle it with cheese, and top it off with honey mustard. Pure flavor. If you’re a bird dog fan, you have to stop by and try theirs. They’re available on Dyar’s new Thursday and Friday night dinner menu—and trust me, it’s worth the trip.

The best fried chicken in the upstate of SC. Outstanding staff and service. Family owned and operated. Can't recommend Dyar's enough. Grab a tray, pick your meat, 3 sides and a dessert. Get some ice in a glass and pour a Pepsi or a sweet tea. Then let the good eating commence. Run don't walk. This place is legit and worth every minute you have to wait if there is a line. Thank me later.

So the owner stalked me down on facebook and messaged me so ppl here would not see how nasty he is I copied below what he wrote. Owner, This was not my 1st review. I have 158 honest review most 5 stars to small and large businesses. You may not agree with my review but I am being honest with myself and to you. I am not a nasty malicious person just honest. I pray for you & your success.

What he wrote to me on Messager.....

You clearly wrote a Google review to personally attack my restaurant. I’m coming here to tell you how ashamed you should be to go as far as you did. Owning a business much less a restaurant in this economy is beyond difficult. You went out of your way to write your first Google review ever for a small family business trying to survive. How shameful. I hope you rest well tonight getting that off your chest. Thankfully, we have hundreds of satisfied customers who help us be better with good feedback. I stand by my response.

My husband and I have been wanting to try this place, every time we go by the place would be packed with cars. After eating there today I just cannot understand why. While we were waiting I said to my husband either the food is very good are this place is very affordable to eat. Neither was the case. The meal cost us like $42. (With out a tip) I have described the meal for you below. This has to be the absolute worst place I have eaten. I had the country fried steak which was in a white gravy. That was the only thing that was edible. Not saying that it was good just edible. The mashed potatoes had a sour taste to them. The macaronis in the mac and cheese we're so overcooked they were mushy. It looked like they only put cheese on top of the macaronis and bake it, unless the cheese just broke up when they cooked it. Either way I took a bite, it was tasteless and gross. I did not go for a seconds bite. Also had the peach cobbler, the woman' scraped out the bottle of the pan and put it in a styrofoam container with a lid on it. There were no peaches in it, it was just mushy wet dough. Like if somebody had given you undercooked pie crust. 🤢 My husband had the chicken tenders. This was the only good item out of both meals. He also did not eat his mac and cheese. He got the rice which was cold and not seasoned. His dessert was a key lime pie but I noticed he only took two bites. He asked me if I wanted to try it but I said NO, because there had been flies sitting on the pie slices. I do have to say the iced tea was very good and so was the staff. But we left with both our plates full. I took a napkin and wrote on it, We will not be back this has to be the worst meal we have ever had in our life. Normally I will take home leftovers for my two big dogs. We had plenty of leftovers, but I love my dog and couldn't do that to them. To the owner before you respond. No, I did not let anyone know the food was awful. Why give me something to replace it with, something worse? I see you get snarky with your responses. Reviews are not only for the public to see but for you to make corrections. You don't have to worry, We will not be back. Your food is tasteless and not cooked properly. Maybe my husband and I are just food snobs and No, your food does not stand up to our standards. Like somebody else's said in their review, I've had better frozen meals. I'm Sorry this is all our fault, normally I will read the reviews before I go to a new place.Wish I...

I couldn't post zero stars. I tried. This was... single handedly... the worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my life. At first, when I pulled in and the parking lot was full and the line was out of the door I thought, as any reasonable human being would, that I was in for a treat... A hidden gem of Pendleton... What I got, as a man pulled my country fried steak out of a pool of gravy (I figured, hey, it might have thick breading or something. Not going to freak just yet), and a 16 year old or younger teenager plated up some of my other food, was purely an insult for the cost of 10$. The country fried steak had no breading, it basically was a discuit of meat. I say discuit because it was a disc that reminded me of an old biscuit from bojangles, with gravy that could be beat by the worst cook from Hardy's. I kid you not, going to hardy's for breakfast on the road with my job, a terrible Hardy's is still MILES better than this place and half the price. I didn't even want to come complain and get a free plate because I was so hungry I had to eat everything, as it had been about 14 hours since my last meal.

This is the first review I've ever felt I had to make of a restaurant, as all of their customers must be brainwashed into their 5 star opinions. Truly trash, do...

Went to eat at the diner today. They were just starting lunch. The fried chicken wasn’t quite ready yet, but that was fine. I waited. It was only a few minutes. The food was good, but the service was almost nonexistent. I don’t know who my server was (she never said her name), but she did nothing for me but bring me a drink to go. I did ask for a small box for the bones for me to take to my dogs. I guess she took that literally because she brought me a SMALL BOX and immediately walked away. The bones were bigger than the box. I told one of the other workers that if she spent as much time talking to the people that HAVEN’T been there before (like myself) as she did talking to the regulars, she would have definitely gotten more than $1 tip from me. In fact, the only reason she got that $1 tip is because I am a server, too, so for a meal that cost $7.49, that actually wasn’t a bad tip. Just the fact that she wasn’t welcoming to new faces definitely makes me wonder if I want to go back again. Like I said, she brought me a drink and that was it. She was more concerned with the regulars when in reality, it’s EVERYONE you need to talk to. You know the regulars will come back; it’s the new faces you want to MAKE...
