Krystal — Restaurant in South Carolina

I am originally from a city called Athens, Alabama where a Krystal Franchise was only 10 minutes from my home or less than 20 mins from the next two Neighboring cities.

I relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina well over two years ago. Where I found to my surprise there was no Krystal Franchise. I was told by someone this week that they thought that it might be one in South Carolina.

I googled and found that to be true, boy..... the excitement I felt having been craving Krystal’s for well over a year!!!!

So Yesterday April 1, 2021 I decided nothing would stop me from taking that over an hour drive to surprise my family of five with 48 Krystal burger, wings, pups all their favorite items that we have all talked about and missed having in our lives.

Only to be extremely disappointed when I got there! Having the most heart breaking experience I can bring to mind in my life with a restaurant.

After anxiously and enthusiastically waiting in line at the drive-thru a Voice comes over the speaker not to say hello welcome to Krystal, but instead “We are sorry but we are out of Krystal’s ”.

I’m actually thinking that what she was saying was a April fools joke, a bad one at that, but a joke! Only to find out that it was truly not!

I explain to the young lady that I had drove almost 2 hours to get to Krystal to only get this as a reply, I was so devastated.

It seriously brought me to tears ! because I took the time to Google, locate, and drive almost two hours in afternoon traffic.

I waited Patiently in line for something that My family and I had been craving for so long.

The disappointment I felt that this surprise that was to be for my entire family was completely Ruined.

I just could not believe that I was hearing that Krystal was out of Krystal’s.

I was really stunned! After speaking with the manager concerning the situation of why he could not sell the Burgers, was simply they didn’t have the bun supply.

He stated to me this was a normal occurrence with his store due to improper ordering of supplies not on their part.

I asked for every number to anyone that I as a consumer could have access to. He did provide me with those, also made me aware that the Corporate office was well aware of this issue. Which make this even more of a sad situation.

He and his staff were extremely apologetic about the whole situation very enthusiastic about trying to offer me other items on the menu that didn’t contain buns. They were very willing to help me in anyway possible.

I am here to leave this review as a consumer who literally cried last night because of what I had just experienced at one of your establishments, that I love and miss so much.

Something as simple as bun supply should be one of the last reasons your establishment has to say their reasons why they can’t sale the very thing that you praise and advertise.

When it was stated that this is a frequent occurrence with this establishment . As as a consumer this is quite disturbing, to know it’s another possibility should I have this craving and decide to drive almost 2 hours from where I live, that I could end up not receiving those items, Is very disappointing, very disappointing.

I know some may say was it really worth all of that? To me yes the drive, time, and gas would have been...

Krystal was the worst meal we've ever had on the road during any of our road trips.

We've had similar experiences at this location over the past year, but this was the absolute worst because of the poor quality of food and the super rude service. From our entrance into the location where we weren't even acknowledged for several minutes, to the rude tone by the woman finally taking the order, it was frustrating to say the least.

We didn't expect gourmet food, but at least something that would not leave us sick for the rest of the night as the meal left us in need of antacids. The food was Luke warm at best. We told them we wanted to dine, but they still bagged the food. We asked for ketchup on the burgers, and none was added. So even the simplest requests were not met.

We spent more than 20 dollars, which, according to a brochure on the counter, entitled us to a free order of chili cheese fries. But when we inquired about getting them, the lady who was extremely rude during the entire visit told us she knew nothing about how any of the deals worked. It wasn't until we continued to ask that she said she needed to talk to her store manager. After about five more minutes, there was no attempt by her to teach out to anyone, and we never got the additional item.

Krystal will now be taken off our list of restaurants when traveling. We won't pay to be treated like trash. If there was a minus rating for service, we would definitely give this Krystal location the low grade. As mentioned before, we've had similar experiences and complained, but it appears to get worse. Perhaps if the employees spent more time trying to provide good service instead of trying to make sure their pants were sagging m, they'd be able to help customers.
