I've been a loyal customer for years . Having worked a long time in the service industry , I generally am pretty forgiving and understanding when things don't go great at a restaurant. This was just an overall horrible experience, and likely the reason I have spent most of the day in the restroom and chugging Pepto. As before mentioned, I eat here often and have for years. I was disappointed when I had seen the menu changes, but decided to give it a try anyway . So I call to make a carry out order . " We no longer do carry out on Saturdays ." Alright . That sucks but I can understand. An abundance can cause a poor dining experience. So we decide to go on in . It wasn't very busy and we were sat immediately. We were handed paper menus that were dirty and crusted with old food . Reusing paper menus and dirty ones at that was already disappointing. We received our drinks and apparently there is an ice shortage. They took their amazing Blacked Seared Tuna appetizer off the menu , and replaced it with " Smoked Tuna Dip ," so we figured we'd try that. What we received was a bowl with a golf ball sized chunks of cream cheese , mayonnaise and what could have been 2 penny sized pieces of canned tuna mixed in there somewhere ?? It was semi glazed over as if it had been sitting in the fridge for a day or 2 pre-made.. old cole slaw is the closest description I could give to the taste . We told the server that it was absolutely disgusting and she took it and walked straight to the manager ( we'll get to that in a second ) For our entree we ordered the shrimp and grits and burger . They had always been great there, and we were looking forward to it .We'll, not only did they change the menus, and recipes , but the skill level of cooks all together. Neither are anywhere near what they use to serve , and took over 30 minutes when it was slow. The shrimp and grits tasted like microwaved cheese grits with some shredded cheese on it . No seasoning . But the shrimp still had the tail on it , and wasn't cooked enough to pull it out so we had to cut it off . It also was covered with roasted tomatoes that still had the leaves on it. Like , who wants to dig through a soupy dish to pull the shrimp and tomatoes out , cut it up, and put it back in . Speaking of which , we weren't even given another plate to finish the chefs job. And who wants to pay 25 bucks for a dish and still have to work so hard for it. Luckily, our food had been sitting in the window so long that they put a second bowl under it to be able to handle it , and we were able to use that to be able to cut the tails and leaves off and discard the trash . My burger. They proclaim it as a " double smash burger . I got one patty that was semi smashed and basically charcoal . The other was completely raw and still icy in the middle . If I had to assume , after cooking the first patty , they realized it was suppose to be a double , kept the first on the grill and tried to rush cooking a frozen patty . After just a couple of bites we had had enough , but , our server was nowhere to be found . We sat there and sat there looking around helplessly. Here's the worst part. The manager had been hanging with his buddies a couple tables over the entire time. When she went to him and showed him the app , he didnt check in . When we sat there starring at our uneaten food , he didnt check in . When I got up and started looking for our server so we could just pay and leave , he still just hung out with his buddies. I walked all through the building , downstairs and back upstairs until I found her in a back room. The entire time a table 10 feet in front of him is having a obvious horrible experience and he never once checked in . Never once went to check on the kitchen , check on the servers , or touch any tables. I know the group that owns liberty takes great pride in providing a good experience. This is the worse experience I've ever had at any of their establishments, multiplied by 10 . Honestly one of the worst that I've...
Read moreWe (wife and I, brother-in-law and his wife and 2 kids) decided, while vacationing for the week on the lake, to eat this evening at the Liberty Tap Room. This was our first time eating there, and we will definitely not be back. We are not overly critical and can forgive a lot, but this experience was unacceptable on several different levels.
Upon arrival, our party of six was seated with no wait. It was extremely hot outside, so we decided to sit inside, which was not much cooler at all...we sweated pretty much the entire time we were there. We asked to be seated upstairs, and she said they didn't have enough servers working to cover upstairs (on a Monday), which was understandable, so we accepted we would just have to be hot.
Our server (Gracie or Gracelyn?) was very polite and nice, kept an eye on us throughout, and kept our cups full of soft drinks and water.
The table we were seated at had not been appropriately wiped down, and the window we sat next to was quite dirty (especially the sill). A family of 6 also were seated next to us when we were close to leaving, and they had to ask for their table to be wiped down as well.
We ordered three apps (bonfire shrimp, liberty fries, and the hushpuppies), and they were honestly not very good...not for the money we paid for them.
Drinks were decent, except the bloody Mary my brother in law ordered. He said it tasted like cold crab boil water and not tomato.
We all ordered steaks, 3 ribeyes and 2 filet mignon (we all ordered medium temp). My filet was pretty good (Pic attached), but my brother in laws filet was way, way overdone. The 3 ribeyes were decent but didn't have much taste, according to the family members that ate them.
4 Caesar salads were brought to us, and immediately after those came, the steaks and other sides were brought. Not only did we not have any time to enjoy the salads before the steaks came, the salads themselves were only cool, not cold, and the lettuce was wilted (like it had sat in the window for a while).
But to top it all off, and most egregious of all, were the flies. We had a half dozen houseflies around our table from the moment we sat down to the moment we left. Once the food arrived, we had to basically shovel the food in our mouths because the flies were constantly trying to land on our food. We spent as much time swatting flies away as we did eating.
Overall, it was a very poor dining experience, and we will definitely...
Read moreThe location is amazing, the food is trash. Staff is friendly, drinks were good, the menu has a nice variety, the food quality is basic, taste is awful. There were 9 of us, the kids got pizza, it was okay. The girls got alfredo, they didn’t like it, it lacked any type of seasoning and the shrimp were tiny, so they didn’t eat it. Our friend got meatloaf with potatoes and green beans, the green beans came right out of a freezer bag, they weren’t cooked and they were freezing cold. The meatloaf was chard, burnt on all sides and terrible. The gravy was thick and straight out of the powdered container. he did not eat his food, he gave everybody at the table a bite of it so we could all see how bad it was. My husband got the salmon. It was edible, his mashed potatoes or powdered and thick, and his green beans were the same as our friends just something out of a freezer bag that was cold and hard on his plate, He didn’t eat it. My daughter got the salmon but changed her sides. She did eat her mashed potatoes and her salmon. I got the ribeye rare with fries, It was served on the same plate as the fries. The steak was so dry. The bottom of the fries was crispy. There was no juice on the steak at all. It was like a thick piece of shoe leather. The Waitress that brought it to the table could even see I couldn’t cut through it with the knife, And when I did get to cut through it, the inside was brown and the outside charred, by the time the second one got to the table, everyone else was finished eating, so I had to put it in a to go box. We got some kind of mahi dip as an appetizer with greased up pita chips. It was OK it lacked flavor. It resembled more of chicken salad than mahi. We will come back here just for the atmosphere, we’ll get an appetizer and a drink, but we will no longer support what they have going on in this kitchen. So much potential in this restaurant, but they drop the ball in the kitchen with the food produced by lackadaisical chefs serving subpar food. Honestly, I missed the days when you sat down in the restaurant and the manager came around table the table asking how everybody enjoyed their food and was there anything else they needed. For management to communicate with the customers is so important in a restaurant how else are you gonna know your food is awful,? Obviously you’re not sampling it or you wouldn’t serve anyone anything that...
